Mikayla Nogueira thought she could push through the discomfort. Then, during a TikTok makeup tutorial, everything changed in seconds.
Posting on Friday, June 12, the 27-year-old beauty influencer described how the room started spinning while she was filming. She said she couldn’t breathe, fell to the floor, and passed out. When she came to, she grabbed her phone and called 911 because she knew she couldn’t safely drive herself anywhere.
After being transported to the hospital by ambulance, doctors quickly determined the cause of her symptoms.
“They found that my appendix was going to rupture,” Nogueira explained. “So they put me into immediate emergency surgery, and I no longer have an appendix.”
Now in recovery, the influencer said the procedure has left her with three incisions on her stomach and limited mobility. “I can’t really walk,” she said.
Nogueira added that she underestimated what was happening at first—realizing only later that her discomfort was serious enough to require emergency surgery. She said she flew home from Los Angeles on Thursday night. While she was on the plane, she began feeling a lot of discomfort and pain. She arrived home around 2 a.m. and told herself she could sleep it off.
“I tried to push through, figured it was just a stomach ache,” she continued.
There is a sharp contrast in her account: she went from trying to “sleep it off” to waking up after passing out—and it was that sudden collapse, caught in the middle of a filming moment, that ultimately brought her to emergency care in time.
