Tiger Woods returned to Instagram on May 25 for the first time in months after completing a treatment program in Switzerland following his March DUI arrest, sharing a Memorial Day tribute to his late father, Earl Woods.
Tiger Woods came back to Instagram on Monday, May 25—his first post in months after a months-long stretch defined by treatment and legal fallout.
The 50-year-old pro golfer returned to the platform for the first time since completing a treatment program in Switzerland following his DUI arrest in March. Woods didn’t address the arrest directly in his return, but he did share a Memorial Day tribute to his late father, Earl.
“My father was a Special Forces operator with two tours in Vietnam and 20 years of service,” Woods wrote on his Instagram Story. “To all those like my father, we all say thank you for your sacrifices. Without them we wouldn’t have the greatest country on Earth.”
Woods’s father served two tours in Vietnam. Earl Woods died at age 74 in 2006 after a heart attack.
Woods had recently been seen arriving back in Florida after a month-long rehab stint in Switzerland earlier this month. The return to social media adds a new moment to a period that has already included public scrutiny following the March arrest.
The DUI case began on March 27, when Woods was involved in a rollover car crash on Jupiter Island in Florida. He was arrested, taken into police custody, and charged with driving under the influence, property damage, and refusing to submit to a test.
After the arrest, Woods entered a not guilty plea. His attorney filed for a waiver of arraignment and demanded a jury trial. The court documents connected to the plea entry stated that his license has been suspended.
Woods is scheduled to appear in court on July 7.
While Woods has not publicly addressed the situation in his return post, the attention around the case has continued beyond him. His girlfriend Vanessa Trump recently broke her silence after his DUI arrest.
