DWP sets which infectious diseases can pay £114 weekly

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has confirmed which disabilities and medical conditions may be eligible to claim weekly payments of up to £114. The DWP often updates its list of eligible conditions for people to receive Personal Independence Payments (PIP). This government benefit is designed to help with extra living or mobility costs if you have a long-term physical or mental health condition or disability. Instead, an applicant must meet the DWP’s criteria which includes them having encountered significant difficulties with daily living activities, mobility, or bot. This must be over the course of a minimum of three months and these challenges must be expected to persist for at least another nine months.

  1. Wait is this for US or UK? $114 a week sounds like a lot but I guess if it’s only when you can’t live normally then… not sure. People are gonna try to game the system though.

  2. My cousin had HIV like years ago and still works, so does that mean they deny him cause it’s “expected for another nine months”?? That wording is confusing. Also why are they excluding hepatitis and polio?? Seems random.

  3. Honestly the whole PIP thing is a headache. They’re saying infectious diseases like malaria and TB can pay £114 weekly but only if you’ve had difficulties with daily living for 3 months and it’ll keep going for 9 more… like ok but who decides that, a doctor or some form? Also I swear they change these lists every other week, so people will get told no today and yes tomorrow.
