“Tiger King” Joe Maldonado is looking to sell his entire music catalog for $50,000 as a way to pay court fees.
Maldonado posted on Facebook on July 25 that, to pay his attorney’s bill, he will be selling an 18-song catalog, which he says is among his last remaining assets.
“My very last asset I own, I must sell my music to pay my attorney bill to push my pardon. Individually priced, 50k or best offer for all,” he wrote, requesting “serious inquiries only” and saying that interested parties can “reach out to Joeexotictktv@gmail.com.”
Maldonado, 61, has been in prison since 2020 for a murder-for-hire attempt against Carole Baskin, an animal rights activist and critic of his.
Often called Joe Exotic, the eclectic tiger enthusiast made famous by the Netflix documentary series “Tiger King” has attempted to be released from prison by unsuccessfully pushing for a pardon from President Donald Trump. In 2020, Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., said Maldonado’s sentence seemed “sort of aggressive,” but the president has refrained from pardoning Maldonado. His attorneys previously alleged in a pardon application that he was “railroaded and betrayed” and will “likely die in prison” due to his health, according to The Associated Press.
While you can purchase the entire catalog for $50,000, Maldonado has also individually priced each song. The range per song is from $2,000 to $15,000.
Most of the songs come with 100% ownership of the record and the video rights.
He noted the full catalog has brought in $36,000 over the last five years.
This decision, while spiked by court fees, follows the trend of singers selling their catalogs to make extra money on the catalog upfront.
Garth Brooks was reportedly looking to sell the rights to his entire four-decadelong discography for anywhere between $1 billion and more than $2 billion.
