Papatui fragrances – Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has launched Papatui, a fragrance line developed over two years with noted perfumers Frank Voelkl and Jérôme Epinette. The three colognes—P-01, P-21, and P-07—are priced at $40 per bottle and positioned as “luxury without the luxury m
The moment Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson steps into a room, you can almost feel the brand: confident, polished, unmistakably his. Now he’s bottled that feeling—and the surprise is the price.
Johnson has launched his first-ever fragrance line, Papatui, unveiling three scents billed as “luxury without the luxury markup.” Each of the colognes costs $40 a bottle, a stark contrast to the higher-priced perfumes of the perfumers who helped craft the line.
Johnson developed the scents alongside Frank Voelkl. the perfumer behind Le Labo’s iconic Santal 33. and Jérôme Epinettehe. who has worked with brands like Byredo and Sol de Janeiro. The actor says his goal wasn’t just to create a new fragrance—it was to make something high-end without putting it out of reach.
“I wanted to create something that was high-end and luxury without feeling out of reach. ” Johnson said in a press release. He added: “The right fragrance changes your energy the second you put it on. ” and described the process as obsessing over “every detail” so the scents “smell incredible. last and will become part of how my guys show up every day.”.
Those details didn’t come quickly. Johnson’s Papatui line took two years to develop, including more than 170 fragrance prototypes.
The collection centers on three distinct profiles. P-01 is described as a leather-like, woodsy blend featuring bergamot, cardamom, and crisp apple. The brand positions it simply as “champion confidence, bottled.”
For a sweeter, smoky mood, P-21 leans into a bourbon-esque character. Its notes include ripe berry, vanilla absolute, and birch.
P-07 is the amber scent, described as “built with magnetic energy,” with notes of bergamot, patchouli, and vetiver.
Johnson’s description is consistent across the line: “These are layered, transportive, long-lasting scents that feel modern, confident, and elevate the day.”
Even the marketing shift is notable. While the scents are marketed to men, the three colognes are essentially unisex—suggesting the line is built for anyone who wants a signature smell without needing to buy into a perfume counter’s price ladder.
If you’re the type who can’t choose, Papatui offers a $19 Eau De Parfum Discovery Kit with travel-sized versions of the full trio.
Papatui also arrives with momentum. Since its launch in 2024, the brand has gained fans and become the No. 1 men’s skin care brand sold at Target. Now, with the new fragrance launch coming just in time for Father’s Day gift-giving, more shoppers are expected to try it out.
It’s a familiar celebrity playbook—except the math is different. When a fragrance line is priced at $40, “expensive” becomes less about cost and more about the experience it’s selling: confidence in a bottle.
