For four weeks, Vancouver streets will go quiet for The Last of Us Season 3 — even as the production had been moving through them with purpose. This month, filming is on a hiatus from the city’s Bridge Studios soundstages, a pause scheduled from June 1, 2026, to June 28, 2026.

The downtime lands after filming began in early March. On-location sightings have already shown the series dressing downtown Vancouver to look like dystopian Seattle, with locals spotting Kaitlyn Dever as Abby Anderson and Kyriana Kratte as Lev skulking through the city in character.

The show is still building toward the season’s central shift: Season 3 is set to follow Abby on her journey to a confrontation with Ellie. That means the story will move in a direction designed to change how viewers understand Abby — a character who is. by the fandom’s own reckoning. among the most hated in video game history. Kaitlyn Dever previously framed the move as a chance to revisit Abby with more context. telling Deadline: Hollywood that fans “are really going to like it. ” pointing to “the shifting perspective onto Abby. ” getting “some more context” and going “back in time with this season.”.

Production details also outline how the season is taking shape. Filming dates for Season 3 run from March 02, 2026, through November 27, 2026. Craig Mazin is the showrunner, and the directors named so far include Craig Mazin, Vincenzo Natali, and David Petrarca. Some of the Vancouver sequences have been directed by Mazin.

Casting will keep the center of gravity on Abby’s side, with her WLF crew returning. Spencer Lord is set to play Owen, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, and Ariela Barer as Mel. Jorge Lendeborg Jr. is joining in a recasting as Manny. Jeffrey Wright is expected to return as Isaac Dixon. the ruthless WLF leader. while Patrick Wilson is set to play Abby’s father Jerry and Jason Ritter will portray WLF soldier Hanley.

The Seraphite lineup expands as well. Kyriana Kratte returns as Lev, Michelle Mao joins as Yara, and Cleo DuVall has been cast in an undisclosed role.

Ellie’s world is still part of the season’s promise, with the Jackson crew expected to appear later: Gabriel Luna as Tommy Miller and Isabel Merced as Dina.
