In the comments on Starr’s post, one fan wrote, “yall got a lot to wrap up next week.” Starr replied, “life is messy. Nothing ends up tidy.”

The exchange landed in the middle of a wider conversation. Showrunner Eric Kripke has also addressed online dissatisfaction. adding that he’s been seeing “a lot of online dissatisfaction. to put it politely.” He then asked what people are expecting. saying. “What are you expecting?. Are you expecting a huge battle scene every episode?”.

Starr isn’t the only cast member acknowledging the criticism. Laz Alonso, who plays Mother’s Milk, recently shared a reel on Instagram that referenced a “Soldier Boy Problem.”

As fans brace for the final episode. the show’s penultimate stretch has included surprises too—including an unlikely cameo from Marvel Studios actor Samuel L. Jackson. Speaking about the cameo. Kripke said the team wanted a “distinct voice who has a more distinct voice in Hollywood than Sam Jackson?” Kripke also revealed that Jackson was the first choice for the voice cameo.

All of it is now converging toward the finale itself. The series finale is set to air on May 20, with the rest of the episodes currently available to stream via Amazon Prime Video.

What Kripke framed as an expectations gap—fans wanting constant spectacle—has now met Starr’s quieter insistence that resolution doesn’t have to be neat.
