INDIANAPOLIS — The Fever didn’t just pull away from the Toronto Tempo on Tuesday night. They stamped their authority early and kept pouring it on through the third quarter, turning a home win into a statement.
Indiana finished 113-91, winning its fourth straight game as Kelsey Mitchell powered the offense with 27 points on 9-of-11 shooting. Caitlin Clark matched the momentum with 21 points and 14 assists. while Aliyah Boston added 18 points and 11 rebounds to complete a double-double night for the Fever. Off the bench, Sophie Cunningham was the spark that wouldn’t fade—posting a season-high 24 points and hitting six three-pointers.
For Toronto, Laura Juskaite led with 19 points. Marina Mabrey scored 18, Maria Conde added 12, and Isabelle Harrison and Brittney Sykes each finished with 11. Kia Nurse contributed 10 points as the Tempo suffered their third straight loss, sliding to 7-8.
Indiana set a franchise record for points in regulation, shooting 52 per cent from the field. The Fever were 13 of 30 from three-point range and made 28 of 33 free throws as their scoring kept stacking up.
The third quarter decided the feel of the game. Mitchell and Cunningham combined for 21 of Indiana’s 32 points in the frame, and Toronto managed just 23 points. Cunningham’s impact was immediate and relentless: all nine of her points in the quarter came from three-point shots. She drilled Indiana’s 10th triple with 7.4 seconds left in the third to push the Fever to an 85-73 lead. then hit another to start the fourth for a 15-point advantage.
Cunningham finished 6-of-7 from three-point range, with Mitchell going 3-for-4 from beyond the arc as Indiana kept its foot on the gas.
There was a darker thread for Toronto, and it came before the margin got out of hand. Brittney Sykes was helped off the court with an apparent leg injury in the first half and did not return. Julie Allemand, limited by a headache, played only 11 minutes.
The Tempo were already shorthanded before Tuesday’s setback, with Nyara Sabally out with a hamstring and Kiki Rice sidelined by a left ankle.
The timing of Indiana’s scoring run left Toronto chasing answers, and the injuries only tightened the squeeze. By the time the Fever had set a franchise regulation scoring benchmark, Toronto was still trying to keep its lineup intact.
Toronto will head to play the Connecticut Sun on Friday. Indiana returns home with a Thursday matchup against the Atlanta Dream, carrying the momentum of a fourth straight victory into the next test.
