The first call came on Saturday to the 9700 block of South Las Vegas Boulevard after someone reported that a horse had been injured. When Las Vegas Metropolitan Police arrived. officers found three horses that had been stabbed multiple times during a weekend barrel racing competition at the South Point Casino.
The event was the 2026 National Barrel Horse Assn. Professional’s Choice Vegas Super Show, according to a statement from the association. Barrel racing has horses sprinting around a set path with sharp turns marked by barrels. Police said the injuries prevented the animals from participating in a competition, even as the horses were expected to survive.
Detectives identified the teenager involved as one of the event’s competitors. Police said they believed she had access to the barn and used a knife to stab the horses.
One rider, Hailey Krahenbuhl, posted on Facebook that her horse, Sully, was among those injured. “I have no words, he is stitched up and in recovery,” Krahenbuhl wrote.
A second post came from Arielle Phillips, the owner of another injured horse, Detail. In her message. Phillips wrote that the alleged attacker was a “crazy obsessed stalker who has been following me on social media for a long time.” Phillips also wrote that the teen tried to talk to her the night before the attack at the horse’s stall. and then contacted someone to tell them that the horse was “quivering” and bleeding in the stall. “An innocent sweet horse. who only knows how to give me her ALL was brutally tortured for no reason. ” Phillips wrote.
After the stabbing, police said the teenager was found in a nearby hotel and taken into custody.
She was booked on 12 counts of willful or malicious killing, maiming or torturing of an animal, and three counts of felony malicious destruction of private property over $5,000.

Wait a teen stabbed horses?? Like for what reason, money or drama?
I saw “South Point” and automatically assumed it was some teenager messing around, but 3 horses is insane. Hope they actually check camera footage because how does someone just walk in with a knife.
Isn’t barrel racing supposed to be like… family friendly? The part about “stalked on social media” sounds like something you’d hear on TikTok, not a casino event. Also if the horse is expected to survive why are they talking about like 12 counts??
I don’t buy the whole access to the barn thing like that’s just free access. If she was a competitor then yeah she probably knew people, but “quivering” and “stabbing” in a stall?? Sounds personal, maybe jealousy over a horse or something. Either way the punishment seems low or high depending on how bad the wounds were, and I’m just confused how it went unnoticed during a whole show weekend.
