Tartan Army hijacks Boston subway intercom—nobody understands

The Tartan Army’s takeover of Boston appears to be showing no signs of slowing down, with Scottish supports continuing to leave their mark on the American city following Scotland’s World Cup victory over Haiti. An estimated 40,000 Scotland fans travelled across the Atlantic to support Steve Clarke’s side at their first World Cup in 28 years, transforming parts of Boston into a sea of kilts, bagpipes, tartan and football chants. We’ve had a viral bagpipe performance at 6:30am, the take over of the Boston Red
Sox game and traffic cones placed on top of several statues in around Boston. And now, one viral video has captured what many fans are calling the ultimate Tartan Army moment. Shared on TikTok by one US local, under the account name @dave.parxx, the clip appears to show a Scotland supporter taking over the intercom system on a Boston subway train while passengers travel through the city. The video, which is captioned: “Don’t worry, It’s just Scotland fans . ” shows commuters sitting inside a
subway carriage before a thick Scottish accent suddenly blares through the speakers with what appears to be a message from a member of the Tartan Army. However, exactly what was being said proved to be something of a mystery. The announcement was so difficult to understand that both Scottish and American viewers flooded the comment section admitting they couldn’t make out a word. The clip quickly went viral on the video sharing app, gaining more than 156,000 views and 10,200 likes in less than 16
hours. One amused viewer wrote: “I’m Scottish and still need a translation.” Another joked: “That was just pure bam talk.” A third suggested the supporter giving the announcement may have been enjoying Boston’s hospitality a little too much, commenting: “One too many I think.” Many Scots watching from home were delighted by the scenes, with one user writing: “Yasss proud to be a Scot.” While others attempted to decipher the mysterious message, with one person joking: “Sounds like she’s asking George Bowie for a shoutout.”
Perhaps one of the most relatable responses came from a fellow Scot who admitted defeat in trying to understand the announcement. They wrote: “As a Scottish person I haven’t got a monkey what he said ahahahah but then again he sounds absolutely p***ed, brilliant.” Despite the announcement not being clear, one thing is for sure – the Tartan Army is making itself heard in Boston. Since arriving in Boston, the Tartan Army have been filmed marching through the cities streets, packing out bars and creating
magnificent atmosphere. And it seems they have made a lasting impression on Boston locals, who never want the Tartan Army to leave. With one local taking to TikTok to announce: “We need to figure out a way to not let these Scots leave Boston because the vibes are absolutely incredible.”

So it’s just bagpipes on a subway now? lol
I saw that video, I swear the intercom sounded like it was speaking in “Scottish Bluetooth” or something. Like I’m not even trying to be mean but I couldn’t understand a single word. Passengers probably just sat there like ???
This is why I don’t trust social media. They said “tartan army” but then it’s like just some random dude on the subway? Also Haiti got brought up and I’m like… wait what does Haiti have to do with the train announcement 😂. Probably something about the World Cup, idk, but that intercom clip was unintelligible for sure.
“Don’t worry it’s just Scotland fans” ok but intercom hijack is still intercom hijack. I kept replaying and it sounded like pure “bam talk” like that comment says, but then people are acting like it’s wholesome?? Meanwhile Boston’s already chaotic, now they’re putting tartan on statues and whatever. Next thing you know someone’s gonna be yelling through the speakers in full pirate voice and everyone will be like oh don’t worry.
