The sister of Nicole Brown Simpson says she wants the NFL to remove O.J. Simpson’s iconic No. 32 from circulation ahead of the anniversary of Nicole and Ron Goldman’s murders. In her mind, honoring the victims means changing what fans are asked to remember when they see that jersey number.
“It’s also the 32nd year of Nicole and Ron’s murders,” Tanya told MISRYOUM in an interview shared publicly on June 4, 2026. “Every time I see someone on the field with that number, it brings me back and I have trauma.”
Tanya said she isn’t organizing an official campaign to force the league’s hand. Still, she hopes speaking out publicly can raise awareness about what June 12 represents for Nicole and Ron’s families—and what the number continues to mean for people connected to the case.
She wants the NFL to understand the emotional weight behind the jersey. “I would love for the NFL to realize this is very triggering as a football fan as well,” Tanya said. “I hope they take my statement into consideration and get rid of the number 32.”
If the league doesn’t abolish No. 32, Tanya said she would like the NFL to take a different approach: a public dedication of the number to Nicole and Ron, encouraging players to wear it in their memory.
As the anniversary approaches, Tanya is also pointing people toward a space for remembrance and community. She encouraged viewers to participate in candlelight vigils on June 12 at 8 PM local time through the Flock of Angels Network. a grief-support community created in Nicole’s memory. The gatherings are meant to honor Nicole. Ron. and other victims of violence. while giving people a place to share stories. photos. and memories of loved ones they’ve lost.
For Tanya, the message is simple and direct: when fans hear No. 32, she wants them to think of Nicole and Ron—not O.J. Simpson.
