S.W.A.T. is getting another chapter despite the cancellation of the original series. S.W.A.T. Exiles brings Shemar Moore back as Sergeant Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson, with the veteran officer taking on a new assignment and a different team. The spin-off continues the franchise while moving Hondo into an entirely new situation.

Shemar Moore returns as Sergeant Daniel ‘Hondo’ Harrelson in the trailer for S.W.A.T. Exiles, which premieres September 25. The new series brings Hondo back after retirement and gives him responsibility for a new group of recruits. The trailer also introduces a conspiracy within the department that becomes connected to Hondo and his team.
The recruits are Sammy Bishop, Ethan Cole, Cassidy Reed, Jude Callan, and Malik Anderson. Sammy is a gun-show influencer determined to prove herself, while Ethan is a talented tactician who struggles to navigate social situations. Cassidy is new to the job and focused on establishing herself, Jude has a troubled past and an unpredictable nature, and Malik is an ambitious recruit who appears to be concealing information.
The trailer also reveals that the team becomes involved in a conspiracy affecting the department. Therefore, Hondo has to manage the recruits while investigating circumstances that could put the new unit at risk. Lucy Barrett plays Sammy, Freddy Miyares portrays Ethan, Zyra Gorecki plays Cassidy, Ronen Rubinstein portrays Jude, and Adain Bradley plays Malik. Moore leads the new cast as Hondo.
S.W.A.T. Exiles follows the eight-season run of the S.W.A.T. reboot, which CBS canceled in March 2025. Jason Ning, Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Shemar Moore, James Scura, and Jon Cowan serve as the executive producers of the series.
S.W.A.T. Exiles continues Hondo’s story while shifting the focus to his new team and their investigation into the department. It premieres on September 25, 2026.
