For the second time in the same evening, a student reported being followed into a dorm building—this time at MIT, after a similar incident at Harvard.
MIT police said they responded to Sidney-Pacific, a residence hall on Pacific Street in Cambridge, just before 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. The call came after a student reported that an unknown male had followed her into a side entrance to the building at around 5:45 p.m.
Police said the person was “acting suspiciously” and matched the description of a suspect who had earlier snuck into Harvard University’s Lowell House.
Harvard’s alert described what happened just before that. Police said that around 5:30 p.m. as a Harvard victim entered their room. the person “approached from behind. covered the victim’s mouth. and attempted to force the victim into the room.” The suspect fled after the victim screamed. The victim was not injured.
MIT police released an image of the alleged perpetrator. They described him as a white male, 5-feet-9-inches tall, with a thin build, wearing a white t-shirt and dark colored shorts.
Anyone who sees the man or has information about the incidents was urged to call MIT police.
