Supergirl exclusive – Ahead of the Milly Alcock-led Supergirl film, Spotify and DC Studios are launching an in-app scavenger hunt that lets users find Krypto, collect letters through Spotify clues, and unlock exclusive first-look clips—paired with three character playlists curated

Spotify and DC Studios are turning the wait for Supergirl into a game.

Ahead of the Milly Alcock-led film’s theatrical release on June 26, Spotify users will be tasked with finding Krypto across Spotify. The payoff is an unlock code—collected by solving the in-app scavenger hunt—that grants access to an exclusive first look clip.

The hunt runs inside the app. While users move through Spotify. they’ll receive clues that point them to the official tracks and theme songs of “Superman” and “Supergirl.” Krypto appears across select DCU-owned entities within Spotify. with the character featuring a letter or two as a thought bubble in each spot.

The challenge isn’t just finding Krypto—it’s remembering what you collect. Fans are told to keep note of all the letters they gather to complete a code. Once the letters are assembled, that code can be entered in the Spotify search section to unlock the exclusive film clip.

The partnership also comes with music built for the movie’s characters. The “Supergirl” Official Playlist includes playlists for three characters—Supergirl, Ruthye, and Lobo—introduced or curated by stars Milly Alcock and Eve Ridley, as well as James Gunn.

Alcock introduces the “Supergirl” playlist. featuring tracks including Chappell Roan’s “HOT TO GO!”. No Doubt’s “Just a Girl. ” Avril Lavigne’s “Sk8er Boi. ” and Djo’s “End of Beginning.” In Alcock’s video introduction. the star describes Kara as music-driven and explains that the playlist was crafted to follow her emotional journey throughout the movie.

Ridley introduces the “Ruthye” playlist, which includes Hozier’s “Take Me to Church” and Imogen Heap’s “Hide and Seek.” Gunn curates the “Lobo” playlist, leaning into more hardcore punk and metal, with tracks such as Fugazi’s “Waiting Room,” Danzig’s “Mother,” and Idles’ “I’m Scum.”

Taken together, the hunt and the playlists point to the same idea: for Supergirl fans, the movie isn’t just arriving on June 26—it’s already starting to play in their heads, one clue, one thought bubble, and one track at a time.

  1. I don’t even understand what Krypto is doing in the app. Like is he a dog… or is this just marketing to get people to listen to songs they’ll skip anyway.

  2. Is the scavenger hunt for like the regular Supergirl show or the new movie? The article says Milly Alcock but then it’s like “theme songs” and I’m confused because I don’t remember Supergirl having theme songs on Spotify??

  3. Spotify doing a scavenger hunt is kinda lame to me, but also I’m gonna do it because Chappell Roan being on the Supergirl playlist is… actually fire. Still though, why does Krypto need letters like thought bubbles? This sounds like you gotta remember a code AND the tracks AND then somehow unlock a clip, seems like too many steps for a June 26 release.
