Story-Rich showcase leaves indie fans waiting Aug 6

Fellow Traveller’s Story-Rich Showcase ran packed with narrative indie titles, from Ambrosia Sky’s final free update on August 6 to Citizen Sleeper arriving on Switch 2 on June 25. New mysteries, a horror-puzzle PC game, and a Switch 2-ready tactical RPG also

The Story-Rich Showcase didn’t feel like a list of announcements so much as a queue you want to jump into immediately. Fellow Traveller—publisher of games like Titanium Court and 1000xResist—wrapped up the event with more than 20 narrative-driven indie titles on display. and it was that sheer volume that made the show feel both exciting and exhausting in the best way.

Ambrosia Sky was one of the sharpest moments. The sci-fi game about death—centered on cleaning up alien fungi—will receive its second and final episode as a free update on August 6. The game originally had plans for three acts. but developer Soft Rains said in March that the story would be cut down to two. When Act Two goes live, the game’s price will rise from $14.99 to $24.99.

That pricing shift is the kind of detail that changes how players measure timing. If you were planning to wait, August 6 comes with an extra tug: play before the update lands, or accept the higher cost once it does.

Elsewhere, sci-fi RPG fans got a clean release date. Citizen Sleeper and Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector are both coming to Nintendo Switch 2 on June 25. Owners of the original Switch versions won’t pay extra for the Switch 2 versions. Developer Gareth Damian Martin also said the studio will reveal its next game during Sunday’s PC Gaming Show.

Not every new title sounds like a comfort pick. Desktop Explorer, a horror puzzle game about clicking through a creepy, old computer that resembles a Windows-like operating system, launches on July 17.

Then there’s Demonschool, which is expanding even as it prepares to move onto a new platform. The paid DLC arrives with puzzle battles that ask players to clear out enemies using certain characters within one turn. The DLC and the Switch 2 version will both land sometime this year. and the Switch 2 version will include mouse support and an improved frame rate.

Fellow Traveller’s showcase also pointed to fresh story ambitions beyond the known worlds. Powerhoof. the studio behind last year’s retro-styled mystery game The Drifter. is working on The Telwynium. a fantasy adventure epic. “Book One” is available on Steam now, with an alternative option through Itch.io.

And for anyone who likes their mysteries contained and voice-driven, The Mermaid Mask is set to arrive soon. SFB Games—responsible for Tangle Tower and Crow Country—will release the locked-door detective game on July 16. It’s fully voice-acted and features hand-drawn animations.

For a showcase built on narrative momentum. the pattern was hard to miss: dates clustered. genres varied. and almost every announcement came with a concrete next moment to circle on a calendar—August 6 for Ambrosia Sky. June 25 for Switch 2 entries. July 16 for The Mermaid Mask. and July 17 for Desktop Explorer—so the “waiting” part of indie gaming suddenly felt like it had timelines again.
