Eva Longoria hasn’t lived on Wisteria Lane in a long time. But when she talks about leaving Los Angeles, the emotion still sounds fresh—like she’s describing a door that finally clicked shut.

In November 2024. the Desperate Housewives star told Marie Claire. “I had my whole adult life here.” She said that “even before [the pandemic]. it was changing. ” describing the city’s atmosphere as something that no longer felt right. “The vibe was different,” she said, adding that COVID “pushed it over the edge.”.

She didn’t frame it as a simple dislike. Longoria said the shift could be tied to “the homelessness or the taxes,” and while she insisted, “not that I want to s–t on California—it just feels like this chapter in my life is done now.”

That “done” moment, in her telling, comes with consequences beyond one person’s comfort. Longoria connected her decision to what she sees other Americans dealing with. She said, “I’m privileged. I get to escape and go somewhere.” Then she contrasted her situation with the reality for many people who can’t simply relocate: “Most Americans aren’t so lucky. They’re going to be stuck in this dystopian country. ” and she added that her own “anxiety and sadness is for them.”.

Her life since then has looked less like a single base address and more like a long-running rotation. For the past few years, Longoria, her husband José Bastón, and their son Santiago have split their time between Mexico and Spain.

When the conversation turns to politics. she pushed back on the idea that her move was tied to President Trump’s re-election. In November 2024. she told The View: Behind the Table podcast. “I didn’t leave because of the political environment.” Her explanation was grounded in work—not ideology. “I left because my work took me there since Land of Women—shooting six months in Catalonia. then four months in Mexico for Searching for Mexico. then back to Spain.”.

She said that after those extended shoots, she didn’t just pass through. “Now I’ve been there for years,” she said, and she summed up the feeling with a blunt line: “So I just don’t like that it’s politicized.”

Even with the change of location, her career didn’t slow down. Longoria has stayed busy with recent projects including her roles in Only Murders in the Building and Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Road Trip.
