Statement credits vanish July 1—check before you lose them

As July 1 approaches, several premium cards are about to reset expiring statement credits. Here’s the card-by-card checklist of what must be used before June 30, including hotel, dining, airline-related credits, and select event ticket and ride services.

June is ending the way it always does for frequent credit-card optimizers: quietly, with a deadline you can miss by one shopping cycle.

For cardholders with premium rewards cards. the problem isn’t whether the benefits exist—it’s whether you’ve used them yet. Many statement credits reset on a biannual or quarterly basis, meaning the clock runs out. If June 30 passes without redemption, some credits on several cards disappear or reset.

American Express is one of the biggest reset points this time of year, starting with Amex Business Platinum and Amex Platinum members.

The Business Platinum Card from American Express carries three statement credits in this category tied to its $895 annual fee (see rates and fees). The first is up to $300 statement credit biannually (up to $600 per calendar year) for prepaid American Express Fine Hotels + Resorts or The Hotel Collection bookings. The credit applies when you book FHR or THC through Amex Travel and pay with your Amex Business Platinum. Hotel Collection stays require a two-night minimum. The benefit is split into two biannual statement credits: one for use from January to June and another for use from July to December.

Business owners also get up to $90 statement credit per quarter (up to $360 per calendar year) for eligible Indeed purchases in the U.S. That statement credit can be used toward subscription plans, sponsored job posts, advertisements on the platform and more.

The third credit is up to $50 statement credit per quarter (up to $200 per calendar year) for eligible Hilton purchases. It can be used for any eligible purchase at a property in the Hilton portfolio. but cardholders must be registered in the Hilton for Business program to participate. Enrollment is required for select benefits.

American Express Platinum Card members face similar hotel-credit timing with different quarterly add-ons. The American Express Platinum Card has up to $300 statement credit biannually (up to $600 per calendar year) on prepaid American Express Fine Hotels + Resorts or The Hotel Collection bookings. The credit applies when you book FHR or THC through American Express Travel and pay with the Amex Platinum. with Hotel Collection stays requiring a two-night minimum. Like the business version. it is divided into two up to $300 biannual statement credits—one for use from January to June and another for use from July to December.

That same card also offers up to $100 statement credit per quarter (up to $400 per calendar year) for Resy, where you pay with your Amex Platinum at an eligible U.S. Resy restaurant with no reservation required.

For shopping timing, the Amex Platinum includes up to $75 statement credit per quarter (up to $300 per calendar year) for Lululemon. The statement credit is available for purchases made at U.S. stores (excluding outlets) and online when you pay with your Amex Platinum.

Enrollment is required for select benefits on the Platinum.

There’s also a practical note for travelers who haven’t used airline fee statement credits yet: if you have the Amex Platinum or Amex Business Platinum and haven’t used any of your airline fee statement credit (worth up to $200 per calendar year). datapoints suggest you may be able to contact Amex before June 30 to change your designated airline selection. This statement credit can be used all at once or across multiple transactions.

If you carry the American Express Gold Card, there’s one expiring credit to watch. It offers up to $50 statement credit biannually (up to $100 per calendar year) for Resy: pay with your Amex Gold at an eligible U.S. Resy restaurant with no reservation required. The benefit is divided into two up to $50 biannual statement credits—one for use from January to June and another for use from July to December. Enrollment is required.

Hilton cards are next, with benefits that split neatly across the first half and second half of the year.

The Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card has two expiring benefits. There’s up to $200 Hilton Resorts statement credit biannually (up to $400 per calendar year). usable when you use your Hilton Aspire at participating Hilton Resorts to pay for eligible purchases such as room charges and incidentals. This benefit is divided into two biannual statement credits of up to $200 each: one for use from January to June and another for use from July to December.

It also includes up to $50 in flight statement credits per quarter (up to $200 per calendar year). The benefit works when you pay for a flight directly with an airline, through AmexTravel.com or the Amex Travel App, and receive up to $50 in statement credits each quarter.

The Hilton Honors American Express Business Card has a quarterly structure you don’t want to ignore. It offers up to $60 Hilton statement credit per quarter (up to $240 per calendar year). You receive up to $60 in statement credits each quarter on purchases charged directly with the Hilton Business Amex toward a property within the Hilton portfolio. including bookings and incidental charges such as dining and spa services.

The Hilton Honors American Express Surpass Card similarly includes up to $50 Hilton statement credit per quarter (up to $200 per calendar year). It is based on purchases charged directly with the Hilton Surpass card toward a property within the Hilton portfolio. functioning like the one on the Hilton Business Amex.

Not every expiring benefit is hotel-focused. Two Bilt cards also have biannual credits with a strict June deadline.

Bilt Palladium Card includes up to $200 Bilt Travel hotel statement credit biannually (up to $400 per calendar year). You receive up to $200 in statement credits for hotel bookings made through the Bilt Travel portal. with a two-night minimum stay required. The first $200 is for use from January to June, and another $200 is for use from July to December.

Bilt Obsidian Card has a smaller version of that same structure: up to $50 Bilt Travel hotel statement credit biannually (up to $100 per calendar year). You receive up to $50 in statement credits for hotel bookings made through the Bilt Travel portal with a minimum stay of two nights. You’ll get $50 to use from January to June and another $50 to use from July to December.

Chase has its own reset timing tied to July 1 for statement credits on Ultimate Rewards-earning cards.

The Chase Sapphire Reserve has two Chase Sapphire Reserve statement credits that reset on July 1. The first is up to $150 StubHub and Viagogo statement credit biannually (up to $300 per calendar year). The credit is for event tickets purchased through Dec. 31, 2027, with one-time activation required. The second is up to $150 statement credit for dining at Sapphire Reserve Exclusive Tables via OpenTable biannually (up to $300 per calendar year). Cardholders get up to $150 in biannual credits for prime-time reservations at Sapphire Reserve Exclusive Tables. and there is no prepayment or payment through OpenTable required.

One reminder applies even though it isn’t restricted biannually: the $500 statement credit for purchases made through The Edit is not biannually restricted. Cardholders receive two statement credits of up to $250 for prepaid stays of two nights or more. Those credits can be used at any time of the year, but they cannot be combined.

The Chase Sapphire Reserve for Business also has a pair of statement credits resetting soon. There’s up to $200 ZipRecruiter statement credit biannually (up to $400 per calendar year). The benefit is for purchases made through ZipRecruiter (through Dec. 31, 2027), received from January through June and again from July through December.

It also offers up to $50 Giftcards.com statement credit biannually (up to $100 per calendar year). You must make the purchase via giftcards.com/reservebusiness; through Oct. 31, 2028.

Citi’s reset is smaller, but still specific.

The Citi Strata Elite Card has one benefit to track. It provides up to $100 Blacklane statement credit biannually (up to $200 per calendar year), with up to $100 in biannual credits for Blacklane chauffeur bookings—one to use from January to June and another for use from July to December.

The practical thread across all of these cards is straightforward: premium annual fees are often offset by statement credits. but those credits are only helpful if they’re redeemed before the cutoff. If you have not yet used the statement credits on this list. they expire at the end of the month—so there’s little reason to wait.

Bookmark the checklist, then take a quick pass through the cards in your wallet before June 30. The benefits may be sitting there waiting; the calendar is the only thing that won’t.

  1. I didn’t even know statement credits were like… expiring. Thought it was just a bonus forever lol. Guess I need to check my card before June 30, even though I probably won’t.

  2. Amex is the one doing it right? Like they “reset” the benefits but only if you already used them? Kinda seems backwards. Also this says hotel and dining credits but I swear my account shows nothing yet, so maybe it’s already too late.

  3. This article is making it sound like you gotta game the system with credits on purpose… I don’t have time for that. If it’s prepaid hotel stuff then wouldn’t it just be safer to not use it? And why does it vanish July 1, can’t they just roll it over once? I’m calling it now, I’ll forget by one swipe and lose it.
