State House security breach accused appears in court

Giano Seibeb, accused over alleged State House security breaches, appeared in Windhoek Magistrate’s Court. The case was postponed for a mental evaluation.

A man accused of breaching State House security and entering the presidential residence naked has appeared in court in Windhoek.

Giano Seibeb, 29, appeared in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court this morning, where he faces three charges. Prosecutors allege the security breach and that he entered the President’s residence on 30 April 2026.

MISRYOUM understands Seibeb was booked into the mental health ward of Windhoek Central Hospital. The court heard he allegedly escaped before being formally discharged, and that he has been diagnosed with schizophrenia.

In the courtroom, the state prosecutor asked for the matter to be postponed to 22 June 2026. The request is aimed at allowing a mental evaluation to determine whether the accused understands court proceedings.

The prosecutor also asked that Seibeb be kept at the Windhoek Correctional Facility while the matter is pending.

While the charges relate to alleged conduct at a high-security location, the next step in the case is likely to hinge on the court’s assessment of the accused’s mental capacity to participate in proceedings.

During the court process, Seibeb told the court he could speak all languages, including Swahili. He further said he would like to plead guilty and stated he did not want to waste the court’s time.

The postponement will determine how quickly the case moves forward, as the mental evaluation is expected to shape the way the court proceeds from here. For now, the proceedings remain focused on establishing the accused’s readiness to face trial.
