Spurs’ Mitch Johnson shrugs off Game 4 pressure

Spurs’ Mitch – Down 2-1 in the series, Spurs head coach Mitch Johnson played down any talk of pressure ahead of Game 4 against the Oklahoma City Thunder, insisting San Antonio knows exactly what’s at stake as the next result could decide the trip to Game 5.
The stakes are already written on the schedule for the San Antonio Spurs.
After a strong road start in Game 1. San Antonio’s momentum slipped. and now they head into Game 4 against the Oklahoma City Thunder with the series standing at 2-1 in OKC’s favor. The urgency feels real in every conversation because this is the kind of swing game that can change the shape of an entire postseason run.
Spurs head coach Mitch Johnson acknowledged the pressure—but didn’t dress it up or talk it up. Speaking through Spurs Nation, Johnson said: “Yeah, we won’t speak on it specifically. I don’t think I need to. I think we know we’re down 2-1. We get on the airplane tomorrow and go to Oklahoma City… we know that there’s history that says if you lose this game… So. I don’t think we’ll play any harder if I say it out loud to them. but I think we know tonight’s a big game. just like the last three. and we need to handle our business. especially at home.”.
Johnson’s message is aimed at a young Spurs roster that includes Victor Wembanyama. Stephon Castle. Dylan Harper. and others—players who are still learning what the playoffs feel like when the margin for error collapses quickly. Even so, Johnson suggested the lesson doesn’t need to be spelled out loudly. The series situation does it for him.
The backdrop makes that feel necessary. San Antonio won Game 1 over the Thunder on the road, finishing 122-115. But the Spurs couldn’t carry that momentum into the next stretch. The series then shifted back to Oklahoma City for Games 2 and 3. with Game 3 arriving at home—and that matchup ending in disappointment for San Antonio.
Game 4 now sits at a familiar crossroads: if the Spurs lose another home game, they would be down 3-1 in the series. That would push them into Game 5 at Oklahoma City. Game 5 is scheduled for Tuesday.
Whether San Antonio can seize Game 4 will determine whether this series keeps feeling winnable—or becomes a long drive back from a steep deficit. Johnson’s stance is clear: he doesn’t think he has to manufacture urgency with extra words. He believes the team already understands it. and that the real test starts when the Spurs are back on the floor on Sunday night.

So basically Mitch Johnson said “it’s fine” lol okay.
I don’t get why people keep saying pressure like it’s a surprise… if they’re down 2-1 then yeah it matters. Also why is it always “next game decides everything” like that doesn’t happen every series? Spurs need to play like they did game 1.
Game 4 pressure?? bro I swear the Thunder always luck out at home. If Spurs lose, it’s cuz they were scared to shoot or something, not cuz “history” or whatever. Wembanyama should just take over and then none of this talk matters.
They keep mentioning “home” like home court is a guarantee. Didn’t they already lose at home before? And now they’re like if they lose Game 4 they go to Game 5 at OKC… so isn’t that already the plan? I just feel like Stephon Castle and Dylan Harper aren’t ready for playoff vibes yet. But hey, coach says they know the stakes, sure.
