Spotify’s Creator Memberships and Personal Podcasts Arrive

Spotify’s Personal – Spotify says it will roll out creator memberships later this summer, letting eligible creators sell subscriptions with exclusive content. At the same investor day, it also introduced “Personal Podcasts,” letting Premium users in the U.S. generate and schedule
Spotify’s latest push toward monetizing creator communities and personalizing listening is coming into focus fast. On Thursday, during its investor day presentation, the streamer announced memberships that give eligible creators a new way to earn revenue directly from fans.
Creators will be able to offer subscriptions filled with exclusive content to their most dedicated supporters. Spotify says memberships will start rolling out later this summer. aiming to give creators on the platform more direct access to the people paying attention to their work. For creators who already manage gated content on other platforms. Spotify says there will be an option to continue distributing that content through Spotify Open Access.
The same presentation also introduced Personal Podcasts. an option where listeners can use AI to generate and schedule short. private audio episodes tailored to their interests and habits. These episodes will appear directly on Spotify. To create a personal podcast. a user will write a prompt. add context through text. PDFs. or links. and then choose a voice. Each generated episode will be saved to the user’s library. allowing listeners to come back and play it any time. Spotify says the feature will soon launch in beta mode for Premium Spotify users in the U.S.

The push didn’t stop at creators and listeners. Spotify also announced a ticket offering aimed at an artist’s most dedicated fans. letting them purchase up to two tickets through Spotify before the event goes on sale to the general public. For readers who still turn to long-form audio. the company shared new higher-hour add-on tiers for Spotify’s audiobook option. along with Family and Student audiobook plans launching later this year. It also introduced Studio by Spotify Labs. a standalone desktop app that lets users create personalized audio based on their Spotify taste across music. podcasts. and audiobooks.
Gustav Söderström, Spotify’s co-CEO, framed the changes as a shift in how people experience media. “We’re entering the era of Generation, where the experience isn’t just selected from a catalog. It’s shaped by each of our users, in real time, around their taste, context and intent,” he said. “Today. there is no media player for both public and private content — or put differently — there is no media player for the generative era. We believe Spotify will become that. Another way of thinking about this generative era is that ‘Computers finally understand English.’ This puts infinite creativity and control in the user’s hands.”.
Alex Norström. the other co-CEO. emphasized the company’s focus on keeping Spotify in more parts of daily life rather than simply chasing attention. “We are not trying to spark a binge. We are trying to become a trusted companion across more moments in people’s lives,” Norström said. “Those who use all three verticals; music, podcasts and audiobooks, are engaging with Spotify almost everyday of the month.”.
