For anyone who’s ever meant to share a podcast moment and then given up halfway—Spotify just made it dramatically easier.
Today, the company is rolling out Podcast Clips, a new in-app feature that lets listeners capture, trim, save, and share specific moments from any supported podcast directly inside the Spotify app. The rollout is global, and it’s available on mobile to both Free and Premium users.
The process starts in the Now Playing view. While listening to a supported podcast, users can tap the new scissors icon. That opens an interface where you select the exact moment you want, trim it to the right length, and preview the clip before saving it.
Once saved, clips don’t vanish into the background. They land in Your Library, where you can revisit them anytime. From there, you can also add them to a podcast playlist.
When it’s time to share, Spotify builds the rest of the flow into the sharing button. The updated sharing menu includes four options: full episode, chapter, timestamp, or clip. Users can send clips directly to friends via Spotify Messages or any other supported platform.
Underneath the feature list is a shift in how big conversations are reaching people. A growing number of major tech and AI executives now skip traditional media interviews entirely and instead sit down with podcasters. Those long-form episodes can be hard to finish, which means the most relevant news often gets buried.
Podcast Clips is designed to surface those moments without requiring the listener to commit to the full episode upfront. For creators, a shared clip can also work as a discovery tool—turning one standout segment into a reason to explore more.
Spotify has been moving quickly on product updates. The company recently launched Studio by Spotify Labs, an AI app that generates personalized podcasts and daily briefings. It also added narrated magazine articles from major publishers like Rolling Stone and Vogue to its library. and it announced an AI tool that lets Premium subscribers create covers and remixes of licensed songs.
With Podcast Clips, Spotify is betting that short, shareable audio moments can keep pace with the way audiences increasingly meet podcasts—one highlight at a time.
