Spencer Pratt Still in the LA Race After Early Results

Early results from Tuesday’s Los Angeles mayoral election show Karen Bass leading with 37% while Spencer Pratt trails with 30%, with councilwoman Nithya Raman in third at 20.5%. With nearly half the votes counted, the top two are set to head to November if no

Spencer Pratt spent months campaigning to unseat incumbent Los Angeles mayor Karen Bass—and by Tuesday night, the numbers were already shaping what the next chapter might look like.

The election day landed on Tuesday, June 2, and early results are now in, with only nearly 50% of votes counted at the time of the post. Bass is currently in the lead, while Pratt is trailing close behind.

Deadline reports that Bass has 37% of the vote, Pratt has 30%, and councilwoman Nithya Raman is in third place with 20.5%.

The way the race is structured means the stakes aren’t just about who leads right now. A candidate needs at least 50% of the vote from Tuesday’s election to win the mayoral seat outright. If nobody reaches that threshold, the top two candidates will face off in November’s general election.

So did Spencer Pratt win or lose? On the evidence from these early results, he’s still in the running. It has been very unlikely that any candidate would win the primary outright.

Bass, for her part, is showing confidence while the counting continues. During an election night event in Koreatown. Bass addressed supporters and said her outcome is “looking good so far.” She added. “Tomorrow begins the second half of this journey. ” and continued. “We can have the city we know we all deserves.”.

Pratt, however, has not yet spoken out publicly about the election.

It also echoes a familiar moment in this mayoral matchup. Back in 2022, Rick Caruso led Karen Bass on election night, but after a week of counting votes, Bass came out on top.

With nearly half the ballots still left to be counted, the leaderboard is clear—but the final answer for whether anyone can reach that 50% mark, and who lands in November, is still waiting.

  1. Wait they said 50% needed to win outright but it’s only like 50% counted?? That math is confusing. Also why hasn’t Pratt talked yet, is he just throwing in the towel?

  2. I saw somewhere that Spencer Pratt already spent all this time campaigning so he should be ahead… unless people just don’t like him. Like how did Bass go from losing 2022 to being at 37% already? Feels rigged but I’m probably missing something.

  3. Koreatown election night speeches always look good, but I don’t trust early numbers. 37 to 30 to 20.5 is pretty close though, I feel like Nithya could steal it if late votes come in different. If Pratt doesn’t hit 50% he goes to November, so technically he “wins” by not losing? idk.
