‘Modern Family”s Julie Bowen and Ty Burrell on a potential reboot
The on-screen parenting duo spoke with USA TODAY about their “Ask2BSure” campaign to raise awareness about meningitis risks for teens and young adults.
Sofía Vergara is back with her “Modern Family.”
The actress posted photos on Instagram from a dinner with her TV husband Ed O’Neill, TV stepchildren Julie Bowen and Jesse Tyler Ferguson and the show’s producer Christopher Lloyd.
“With my American family!!!” The actress captioned the photos. “I cant believe its been 6 yrs since the Modern Family finale!!! I miss u guys!!!”
Vergara, 54, played Gloria Pritchett, while O’Neill played Jay Francis Pritchett and Bowen and Ferguson played his adult children, Claire Dunphy and Mitchell Pritchett, respectively.
The hit ABC sitcom lasted for 11 seasons, from 2009 to 2020, and received 22 Emmys, including five in a row for best comedy series over its 250-episode run.
Vergara has frequently shown love for the “Modern Family” cast. Vergara said in June that the cast still uses their group chat “a lot” and shared praise for her former costars, O’Neill in particular.
“I miss Ed O’Neill so much,” Vergara told People magazine. “I mean, I miss everyone, but … most of my scenes were always with Ed O’Neill. I spent most of the 11 years with him. He was such a great friend, such a great pillar for me, because I had never really … That was like my first really acting job.”
She continued, “So to have someone like Ed O’Neill guiding you and helping you through a show like ‘Modern Family’ was a dream. I couldn’t have done it without him.”
Vergara also hosted a massive 2023 reunion with the entire cast, including O’Neill, Bowen, Ferguson, Sarah Hyland, Eric Stonestreet, Ariel Winter, Rico Rodriguez, Nolan Gould and Aubrey Anderson-Emmons. The group was without Ty Burrell, though they made sure to include him with a comedic photo on a mantel. “We miss u Ty!!” Vergara wrote at the time.
