A marketplace built for the moment a hobby turns into inventory is finally here.

SmallRun.net is positioning itself for makers who want to sell small production runs—custom PCBs. on-demand 3D prints. and other traditional maker products—without having to scale up just to find a place to sell. The platform also plans to host merch, bringing electronics and hardware alongside categories like tabletop gaming, sciences, and accessories/apparel.

For sellers, SmallRun.net is pitching a hands-off setup. It promises automatic payouts and says it will handle taxes through integration with Stripe. There’s a catch: the company is still working on getting VAT properly set up for products imported into the EU. The platform indicates that EU-to-EU sales are apparently OK.

SmallRun.net will also host build logs, a feature that could turn product development itself into part of the sales pitch—something makers often already do, but rarely get to monetize as directly.

If you’re already selling elsewhere, SmallRun.net offers a migration path: a tool to import existing listings from eBay, Tindie, Lectronz, Etsy, Shopify, or Crowd Supply.

The marketplace takes a cut of sales. SmallRun.net charges eight percent plus forty cents per listing.

The company’s broader goal is simple: make it easier for makers to sell what they love in smaller batches—without the friction that typically comes with shipping. payments. and listings. And for anyone asking whether another marketplace is really necessary. SmallRun.net’s answer is essentially to let competition do what it does best: keep pressure on platforms to improve.

The platform tip for this effort came from Aron.

  1. I saw “VAT” and immediately thought scam, like why is that so complicated. If EU sales are fine then why not just do all of it the same? Also 8% + 40 cents per listing sounds gross.

  2. “Automatic payouts” is nice but I’m guessing they’ll still hold money when it’s time to pay taxes. Stripe integration doesn’t mean it’s not a mess. Build logs monetized too? Half the time people just want feedback, not to sell their homework lol.

  3. Wait, they’re hosting merch AND PCBs? This is how my cousin ended up broke on Tindie like 2 years ago, too many fees and not enough buyers. It says import listings from eBay Etsy etc, but are they gonna charge you again to “migrate” or whatever? Sounds like one more website until it goes down.
