Skubal’s dugout flare fuels Tigers’ 4-3 win

Tarik Skubal returned to the mound with real sharpness against the Chicago White Sox, striking out eight over five-plus innings before getting into a shouting exchange in the dugout. The Detroit Tigers won 4-3 on Friday, then followed with a 4-1 victory on Sat
The Detroit Tigers were thrilled to see starting pitcher Tarik Skubal back on the mound Friday. It didn’t take long for the ace to look like himself again.
Skubal was sharp against the Chicago White Sox, striking out eight over five-plus innings of work. Then came a moment that made the emotion spill over. At one point in the game, Skubal left the mound and began jawing with a player in the White Sox dugout.
Skubal didn’t try to clean up the picture. “I’m a competitive guy,” he said. “I kind of wear my emotions out there, and that’s part of how I play the game. I think that’s just baseball. … It is what it is. It happened. It’s over with.”
The player Skubal appeared to be sparring with was White Sox pitcher Mike Vasil. Vasil responded with his own version of the exchange. “I think it was some pretty choice words,” he said, “and then I shared back some choice words. It was good stuff.”
Detroit manager A.J. Hinch watched it play out and didn’t sound concerned. “We know where we’re at, and what that brings is a ton of emotion in itself,” Hinch said. “Usually, you can multiply it with Tarik.”
That emotional intensity has become part of Skubal’s comeback story, too. He is back working for the team after having surgery some weeks ago on his elbow. and he’s returned at an astonishingly fast pace. Trade rumors have followed him closely as a result. but on Friday. the focus was purely baseball—how he looked when the ball was in his hand.
Skubal said he felt good overall about what he was throwing. “I felt like this was the first start that I’ve had this year where I felt like I kind of ran out of gas a little bit late in the game. ” he said. “And that’s good. I think that’s great for me in terms of building my volume to where. a couple starts from now. I feel like I’m healthy and ready to go.”.
The scoreboard backed up the return. Detroit won Friday’s game 4-3. The Tigers then turned around and won again on Saturday against the White Sox, 4-1.
With those back-to-back results, Detroit is now 32-44 on the season.

So he was yelling in the dugout but still did good?? baseball is weird lol
I don’t get why the article is acting like it’s “competitive” to jaw with the other team. Elbow surgery too like… that’s not something to be hyped about
Wait I thought Skubal got traded already. Every time I hear his name it’s always trade rumors, so maybe that’s why he’s angry at Mike Vasil? Idk just seems connected
“Shouting exchange” always sounds worse than it probably is, but still… if he’s coming back from elbow surgery shouldn’t he be, like, calming down? Also 32-44 like okay, cool win streak, but it’s still not great. Maybe the flare/dogout thing is just Tigers being dramatic, like Detroit always does
