Wimbledon Day One moved fast enough to feel like it was changing by the minute.
On Centre Court. Jannik Sinner began his match against Miomir Kecmanovic with momentum that didn’t hold—Sinner is currently trailing 4-5 in the first set and the game is still in progress. Sinner enters as the No.1 seed ranking. while Kecmanovic is carrying the weight of a different kind of pressure as they battle for the next break.
Harriet Dart faced Jelena Ostapenko on No.1 Court, and Ostapenko’s first set looked decisive: the scoreline reads 6-3 in Ostapenko’s favour. Dart and Ostapenko then flipped into the second set, where Ostapenko is ahead 3-0 and still serving for momentum as the match remains in progress.
Cameron Norrie’s night at No.3 Court came with a tight opening. Norrie—seeded at No.26—has been pushed into a first-set tiebreak against Michael Zheng. The set finished 6-7, tie break 7-9, and in the second set Norrie is now leading 3-2 and the match is still in progress.
Casper Ruud took the court at No.3 as well, but Hubert Hurkacz has forced him onto the back foot early. In the first set, Ruud trails 4-6 with Hurkacz on serve, and in the second set Ruud is down 1-2, also in progress.
The evening’s tension didn’t stay only on the marquee courts. At Court 4, Alycia Parks and Alicia Dudeney are still in play with the match at 0-0 in the first set, in progress.
Court 5 offered a different kind of comeback energy. Marco Trungelliti is serving against Martin Damm. and the first set ended with a tiebreak that went Damm’s way—6-7. tie break 5-7. Trungelliti didn’t stop there: the second set swung to him, 7-6, tie break 7-5. The third set went the other direction again, with Trungelliti down 6-7, tie break 2-7. Now in the fourth set, Trungelliti is ahead 2-1 and the match remains in progress.
Bianca Andreescu is also carving her own path at Court 6 against Shuai Zhang, starting the match strongly at 3-0 and in progress in the first set.
At Court 8, Hamad Medjedovic faced Sebastian Ofner. Medjedovic raced through the first set 6-1 and is continuing the pressure in the second, currently ahead 3-1 and in progress.
Court 9 features Camilo Ugo Carabelli against Daniel Merida. Carabelli won the first set 6-4 and is already up 5-1 in the second set, which is also in progress.
On Court 10, Xinyu Wang is serving against Elisabetta Cocciaretto, and the first set went Wang’s way 6-3. Cocciaretto responded in the second set, flipping the score to 6-2 while it remains in progress.
Yulia Putintseva and Tatjana Maria met at Court 14 with Putintseva trailing after the first set: 4-6. In the second set the match is still in progress, with Putintseva showing 0-0.
Ann Li, seeded at No.28, is serving against Zeynep Sonmez at Court 15. Li is down in the first set 5-7 but has immediately responded in the second set, leading 6-1 and still in progress.
Court 16 brought another rollercoaster. Andrey Rublev, seeded at No.12, began against Roman Safiullin with a first-set loss: 4-6. Rublev then rallied—winning the second set 7-6, tie break 8-6, and the third set 6-3. Safiullin took the fourth set 6-3. pushing the match into a fifth set where Rublev is leading 1-0 and the match is still in progress.
At Court 18, Roberto Bautista Agut is serving against Joao Fonseca, the No.24 seed. The match is early—Bautista Agut is up 1-0 in the first set and still in progress.
