See Sen. Graham admit not being ‘informed’ on national security
South Carolina Republican Sen. Darline Graham said that “national security is not my thing” during a Republican debate.
Sen. Darline Graham, the sister of late Republican Sen. Lindsay Graham, has won her bid for the GOP nomination in South Carolina’s Senate primary.
Darline Graham and U.S. Rep. Ralph Norman of South Carolina advanced to a runoff after an Aug. 11 primary, when neither candidate earned over 50% of the votes. Graham assumed her brother’s seat in the Senate after he suddenly died of an aortic dissection. Graham was sworn into office as her sibling’s interim replacement and is now running to be his full-time replacement for a full term beginning in 2027.
President Donald Trump endorsed Graham, rallying for her campaign in South Carolina, saying “I have to make sure she gets in because there will be nobody better.”

Here are the latest statewide vote counts (with an estimated 99% of votes counted):
- Darline Graham: 52.5%
- Ralph Norman: 47.6%
Norman rallied more votes than Graham in several counties of South Carolina’s Upstate region, which borders Georgia and North Carolina. Norman defeated Graham in Greenville County (where the city of Greenville is located) and York County (home of Rock Hill and within Norman’s 5th Congressional District). But Graham carried coastal and central regions of the state en route to winning the Republican runoff and advancing to the general election this fall, when she’ll face the Democratic nominee, pediatrician Annie Andrews
