Sebastian Stan’s role in The Batman Part II shifts to Zsasz

A new, widely shared report says Sebastian Stan’s character in Matt Reeves’ The Batman Part II is Victor Zsasz, not Harvey Dent/Two-Face—while Brian Tyree Henry would be playing Dent. The studio hasn’t confirmed any character names, and filming is set to start
A familiar question has returned to the center of the conversation around Matt Reeves’ The Batman Part II: who is Sebastian Stan actually playing?
For months. the assumption has been that Stan would step into the role of district attorney Harvey Dent and. eventually. the version of Two-Face associated with him. But a new report circulating online flips that expectation. It claims Stan’s part isn’t Dent at all. but Victor Zsasz—the serial killer who carves a tally mark onto himself for each of his victims.
That same report adds another twist: Brian Tyree Henry would be the one portraying Harvey Dent. Until now, Henry’s character role had not been disclosed.
Reeves has confirmed the cast members attached to the film, and the studio has shared who is returning or joining. What neither side has done is pin down the official character names for the new additions. As a result. the widely expected lineup—Stan as Dent. Scarlett Johansson as his wife Gilda. and Charles Dance as Dent’s father Christopher Dent—hangs in uncertainty if the new claim holds.
The report also lands close to something Stan himself has already teased. He previously said he would play “many roles in this one. ” and he confirmed he had been working with the hair and makeup teams on how “his disfigurement will look.” That kind of preparation could fit multiple Batman villains. whether the end result is tied to Two-Face or to Zsasz’s own brutal identity.
Filming is scheduled to begin this month at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, with location shooting in London and Liverpool. Some rehearsals and test filming have already been spotted. and Colin Farrell recently confirmed he’ll appear only twice in the whole film—one more reminder that even major appearances may be smaller than fans expect.
Across the wider Batman universe, Victor Zsasz has been portrayed on screen and across television, film, and games, with the most notable interpretation coming from Anthony Carrigan in FOX’s Gotham.
As for what audiences will ultimately see, the cast includes Robert Pattinson, Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, Sebastian Koch, Jayme Lawson, and Gil Perez-Abraham. The film is set to open October 1st, 2027.
If the latest report is correct, the stakes for fan predictions are immediate: the question isn’t just who Stan joins as, but what kind of villain the sequel is bringing into Gotham next—and whether the Dent story people have been banking on will arrive under a new face.
