Dallas heat index hits 105 before weekend storms bring relief

Dallas heat – North Texas is heading into another round of muggy, triple-digit heat before scattered storms and a cold front shift conditions. Highs in the mid-90s will feel like 105 degrees in some areas Thursday, while rain chances linger from Thursday night through Monda
Dallas-Fort Worth is stepping into a hot, humid stretch before the sky finally seems ready to break.
Thursday’s forecast calls for seasonably hot and humid conditions across the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. with highs in the mid-90s. When humidity is factored in. the heat index is expected to hit triple digits—reaching 105 degrees in some areas—making it feel even harsher than the thermometer suggests.
Most of the region is expected to stay dry at first. But a cold front approaching late Thursday could change that, triggering scattered storms primarily in counties along the Red River.
The rhythm of the weekend forecast is less “one big storm,” more a slow-moving pattern. Thursday night’s showers are expected to linger into Friday morning as they drift south toward Dallas and Fort Worth. From there. rain chances persist through Monday. bringing the kinds of hazards that come with energetic thunderstorms: threats of heavy rainfall. frequent lightning. and damaging winds in localized areas.
For anyone planning to be outside, Saturday is shaping up as the calmer window. It will be very hot and likely rain-free, with highs still in the mid-90s—an imperfect but workable pause between rounds of weather.
Then Sunday afternoon and evening, scattered showers and storms are expected to return.
The best chance for more widespread rain and storms arrives Monday as a cold front pushes completely through North Texas. Along with the storm activity, early next week should bring a brief but welcome cooling trend.
The key message for the Dallas area right now is timing: enjoy what dry hours you can, because Thursday’s heat index already sets the bar—and the storms, with their heavy-rain and wind risks, are built into the forecast from Thursday night through Monday.

105? That’s insane. I’m staying inside till Monday I guess.
So the storms bring relief but also damaging winds?? Love that for us. Is it just gonna be hot until it randomly floods someone’s street again.
They said cold front late Thursday but then Monday is when it pushes through, so like… which day is it actually? Feels like they’re always “timing” it and then it changes. Also, Red River counties? That’s like way out there right?
Every summer article is the same: triple digits, heat index 105, then thunderstorms. I don’t trust the forecast because last time it said “scattered” and it was basically just everywhere. Just saying, y’all should warn people to not drive in the lightning areas instead of “enjoy dry hours” lol.
