Seahawks’ Byron Murphy vows restart after Super Bowl

The work starts before the offseason glow even fades.
Seahawks defensive tackle Byron Murphy insists the 2026 season has to begin “from scratch.” Coming off the team’s Super Bowl win in February, Murphy is ready to move past the story of how it happened and focus on how the Seahawks can build something better in the years that follow.
Head coach Mike Macdonald recently said he wants Seattle to “run it forward” rather than think about repeating what they did on their way to the title. Murphy said he’s on the same page. framing the task as a climb that starts at the bottom and requires fixing the small things that slipped in last year’s run.
“I feel like we gotta start from scratch,” Murphy said via the team’s website. “I feel like we should ask ourselves. what are the things we can improve on as far as what we did last year?. How can we build on that?. How can [we] just keep going and fix little errors, the little mistakes that we had last year. How can [we] go about that and perfect that and then take it to another level.”.
Murphy didn’t pretend the timeline will be easy. He acknowledged it is “very challenging” to pull off what he wants the team to do this season, especially with expectations still fresh from last February’s Super Bowl win.
The process, he believes, begins right away. Seattle will open against the same kind of opponent they already proved themselves capable against when they face the Patriots. with the Seahawks hosting New England on September 9. For Murphy. the early weeks won’t be about celebrating the past—they’ll be about sharpening the details that can’t afford to remain mistakes.

start from the bottom? bro they literally just won the Super Bowl lol
So they’re already like “forget last year” which is kinda wild. Maybe they just don’t want the pressure? Also September 9 vs Patriots feels like deja vu.
By “run it forward” I’m guessing they mean like trade everybody and tank for picks? Or is that only for the offense? I stopped reading when it said start back from the bottom.
I don’t know, teams always say this after a Super Bowl but then half the roster is hurt or whatever. If they “perfect little errors” they should’ve already done that, right? Patriots again too… seems like they’re setting themselves up for a trap game or something.
