Scots’ World Cup trip sparks Boston women’s “baby boom”

Scots’ World – Thousands of Scotland fans flooded Boston for the World Cup, and local women say the party has “restored their faith in men” — with some even hinting at a baby boom after the Scots’ tournament run.
When the first Scotland goal went in at Gillette Stadium last Saturday, the celebration didn’t stay inside the ground. It spilled into the streets and bars of Boston — and this week, local women have been posting about what happened next.
Scotland won their World Cup opener against Haiti 1-0, with a deflected goal from John McGinn proving decisive under Steve Clarke. The result set off excitement across Boston and across the Atlantic, but it’s the impact of the visitors that’s taking over TikTok.
Hundreds of young women flooded the platform this week to share videos of them drinking, dancing and partying with kilt-wearing Scots. One blonde woman even organised a dating event and called on all Scots to visit a bar where “100 single US women” were desperate to meet them.
A local woman posted a clip hailing the Scotsmen for “restoring their faith in men. ” while another wrote: “The vibes the Scots have been bringing to Boston were the vibes we needed.” Others went further with playful messaging — one video showed a woman in a Scotsman’s arms. captioned “I may not be happily married but at least I’m single while the Scottish are in town for the World Cup.”.
Even the wording of love and mischief spread through the city. In one separate video, which racked up more than 70,000 likes, a fan carried a woman on his back through Boston streets with the caption: “If he won’t, a Scottish man will.”
Some married American women urged action anyway. One told TikTok followers that if she was a single woman living in Boston right now. she’d go to the bars — saying: “If you don’t go. you’re doing something wrong because you could find a nice Scottish man.” She added that the Scots “seem very nice. ” and that they “wanted to pet my dog.” She urged others to “go (to local bars)” while the visitors are in town.
The scale of the turnout is part of the reason these posts spread so fast. It was estimated that more than 50. 000 fans flooded to the east coast. with most staying all week ahead of Scotland’s second match against Morocco this evening at Gillette Stadium. Scotland currently sit top of Group C after their victory over Haiti. with Morocco and Brazil due to be the stern tests.
The partying has left clear marks on local businesses. Devon Savage. who owns the company that runs the Samuel Adams Taproom. said the travelling fans “had drunk them dry.” He described how the pace of drinking forced adjustments. saying emergency delivery was needed on Saturday morning. He also stated that the bar sold over 3. 000 pints of lager over the weekend. with teams picking up 70 empty kegs on Monday.
Savage said it in a blunt comparison: from Thursday to Sunday, the Tartan Army “drank four times as much Boston Lager as we run through” on a typical four-day holiday stretch like July 4. Around the city, other Boston pubs, bars and nightclubs also recorded sales tied to the Scotland surge.
The friendly momentum is now spilling beyond nightlife. Scotland’s fans have impressed Boston Mayor Michelle Wu so much that it was announced yesterday that a letter of intent had been signed to make Glasgow and Boston twin cities. Wu said: “We are both cities that are champions of arts and culture and innovation. but also we are willing to fight for it. We have the grit. we have the passion for making sure people are at the center of everything that we do. There are many points in our history where Boston and Scotland have been tied hand in hand.”.
After the clash with Morocco, the Scottish fan army will travel south to Miami for the final group match against World Cup icons Brazil.
On the pitch, Clarke’s side know the next steps will be harder. Haiti scored a lot of goals and are dangerous up front. McGinn said. but the key was keeping a clean sheet. Facing Brazil and Morocco — two teams he described as two squads “in the top 10 in the world. ” with Brazil ranked sixth and Morocco ranked fifth — McGinn insists Scotland have “more gears to go up.” He said Scotland might suit it “a little bit better to play on the counter-attack and make it difficult for them. ” adding: “We know what’s at stake. The good thing for us is we’ve got more gears to go up.”.
