Even after calling it quits, Bunnie Xo and Jelly Roll say they’re continuing their IVF journey—aiming to have a child together and coparent—while both acknowledge how painful the process has been.
Bunnie Xo didn’t wait for the dust to settle before talking about what comes next.
On Thursday, June 18, during the “Dumb Blonde” podcast episode, the 46-year-old said she and Jelly Roll are still planning to have a baby together, despite having gone their separate ways as a couple.
“You guys are going to be shocked to hear this but we’re still having a baby,” Bunnie said.
The plan is unconventional for a pair moving through divorce. but it’s one she insists they’re not willing to abandon. “We’re still having a baby together, we’re going to coparent together,” she continued. Bunnie said she’s “so excited to live my life through a child’s eyes. ” adding that with this baby journey. she’s not going to let it break her or detour it.
She credited Jelly Roll for staying on board. “J has been so great about us still having a baby together and he wants the same thing.” She closed the thought with a simple vow: “We’re just going to raise little Nugget as one big happy family.”
Their determination comes after an IVF journey Bunnie described as emotionally and physically exhausting—one that has already left painful marks. She said it “completely wrecked me. ” adding that it “wrecked me emotionally. spiritually. physically.” She explained that for “the past year-and-a-half. ” she became a “shell of the person I was” because she was going through IVF.
Losses were part of that reality too. Bunnie said she and Jelly Roll have lost four embryos, explaining that they had three transfers and lost “the two twins that we were going to try to have,” then lost “the other two.” She described the experience as “gutwrenching” and “so heartbreaking.”
She also addressed how their marriage ended. Later in the podcast, Bunnie called Jelly Roll her “best friend.” She said things between them fell apart after they “served our purpose for each other.” She also claimed no infidelity caused the divorce.
Jelly Roll, for his part, broke his silence on the marriage breakdown by insisting their relationship remains amicable. On Thursday in New York, he told the crowd, “Me and my wife are best friends. We will always be best friends. We just got off the phone earlier today.” He added: “Nobody cheated on nobody. She just did a whole podcast about it. You can go watch it. Every word of it is the truth.”.
Behind the scenes, the separation was already underway. Earlier this week, it was confirmed that Jelly Roll quietly filed for divorce from Bunnie in May. In court documents obtained. the country singer cited “irreconcilable differences. ” stating that the “parties are unable to live together successfully as Husband and Wife” any longer.
Jelly Roll is also a father of two from previous relationships. He shares daughter Bailee with ex-girlfriend Felicia Beckwith and son Noah Buddy, 9, with ex Melisa Ann Cowell. During their marriage, Jelly Roll and Bunnie had primary custody of Bailee when she was a minor.
