Netflix’s live-action Scooby-Doo: Origins just expanded its ensemble with 15 new cast additions, including Rusty Schwimmer, Bruce McGill, and Sherilyn Fenn, with the series set to debut in 2027.
The cast of Scooby-Doo: Origins is growing fast—so fast that, by Wednesday, June 10, Netflix was already ready to share 15 more names from the show’s expanding ensemble.
The highly anticipated live-action Netflix series announced the additions as the streamer keeps building out its modern take on the mystery-solving gang.

The series already features Mckenna Grace as Daphne Blake, Tanner Hagen as Shaggy Rogers, Abby Ryder Fortson as Velma Dinkley, Maxwell Jenkins as Fred Jones, and Paul Walter Hauser in an undisclosed role.
Scooby-Doo: Origins is set up as a modern reimagining of the iconic mystery-solving group and their very special dog. During their final summer at camp. old friends Shaggy and Daphne get pulled into a haunting mystery involving a lonely lost Great Dane puppy that may have been a witness to a supernatural murder. Along the way. they team up with the pragmatic and scientific townie. Velma. and a strange but ever-so-handsome new kid. Freddy. to solve the case threatening to drag each of them into a creepy nightmare—and expose their secrets.

So it’s just Scooby-Doo but all grown up now? 2027 can’t come soon enough I guess.
Wait Rusty Schwimmer AND Sherilyn Fenn?? That sounds like a totally different vibe than Scooby. Also why are they making it “supernatural murder” like… couldn’t it just be ghosts? Or is that still ghost?
I saw “15 more cast additions” and I’m like wow Netflix really just throws actors at everything lol. Daphne and Shaggy getting dragged into a mystery with a Great Dane puppy sounds cute but also kind of dark? Like murder witness puppy… okay sure. Are they still solving mysteries the classic way or is it just horror with Scooby stickers?
2027 is a long time. By then half these actors will be busy with other stuff. Also I read somewhere (maybe wrong) that Bruce McGill was already in a Scooby project? So this is either connected or recycling names. I just hope they don’t change Velma into some totally different character, because they always do that.
