Pembroke hospital foundation pushes toward $10M public campaign

Pembroke Regional Hospital President and CEO Sabine Mersmann said the campaign is helping the hospital respond to growing healthcare demands throughout the region. “Every investment made through this campaign is rooted in one goal — delivering the best possible care to our patients,” she said. The campaign’s remaining priorities include the purchase of a new CT scanner, which is expected to perform more than 15,000 scans annually. Hospital officials believe the scanner will help improve diagnosis and treatment times while reducing disruptions for patients and
families. Funds will also support implementation of the Epic electronic health information system and MyChart patient portal, giving patients greater access to their personal health information and improving communication with care providers. Campaign chairwoman Dr. Christy Natsis spoke during the launch event, sharing her experience as both a donor and cancer survivor who received treatment at Pembroke Regional Hospital.

Hope they don’t waste it. CT scanners are expensive though.
So they’re doing a $10M campaign… but are we paying more at the end? Like hospitals always say it’s for patients then magically it’s premiums and billing headaches. A portal doesn’t fix wait times.
Epic system and MyChart sounds nice but I swear these “software” things always cause delays at first. Also, 15,000 scans annually—was that like already happening? Not sure how the math works. My cousin said CT stuff is always booked out anyway.
Cancer survivor chairwoman part got me, I’ll give them that. But I don’t get why they need a public campaign if insurance and government already fund healthcare… unless they’re not really funded for the CT scanner. Also CT scans, are those the same as MRIs? Everyone keeps mixing those up on Facebook so I’m confused.
