Sara Bareilles’ Husband, Joe Tippett, Praises Her New Album ‘Good Grief’ & Calls It a ‘Gift’ | Just Jared
Sara Bareilles just dropped her new album Good Grief and she’s getting support from her husband Joe Tippett, who wrote an incredibly sweet message on Instagram.
The couple first met in 2015 while working together on Sara‘s musical Waitress during its out-of-town tryout at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, Mass. She wrote the music for the Broadway show, and later starred in the musical as well. Joe originated the role of Earl in the pre-Broadway run in summer 2015. They later appeared in the show together.
Sara and Joe got married in late 2025 after ten years as a couple.
Sara‘s new album is her first in seven years and it deals with the grief she’s faced in recent years from the loss of two of her best friends, plus struggles with her fertility journey.
Joe shared the album cover on his Instagram Stories and joked about being Sara‘s “private” husband.
“Not many people know this because I try to keep my private life private but Sara Bareilles is my wife and life partner. Today her first album in 7 years came out,” Joe wrote. “I love this album so deeply. I watched her pour what most people would bury away ashamed or afraid to share and make art with her community and build new connections and strengthen old ones. This album is a gift. They are her stories. She found the courage to share and I hope everyone who listens finds a little strength to share as well and a little space to heal.”
Joe is best known for his work on TV shows like Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, American Primeval, Mare of Easttown, The Morning Show, and Rise.
He has also been seen in movies like A Complete Unknown, Spirited, and Patsy & Loretta. He’s currently appearing in the off-Broadway play Disruption, running in New York City through September 13.
