Santa Cruz kidnapping victim rescued in police operation

A 43-year-old man kidnapped from Santa Cruz was found injured during a police operation in Laventille, with investigations ongoing.

A 43-year-old San-ta Cruz man who was kid-napped from his home on Thurs-day was res-cued by po-lice dur-ing an op-er-a-tion in Laven-tille on Fri-day.. Po-lice said the man was ab-duct-ed around 5 a.m.. on May 8 af-ter sev-er-al men en-tered a house in San-ta Cruz where he and his girl-friend were present.. Crim-i-nal In-ves-ti-ga-tion De-part-ment re-spond-ed to a re-port of kid-nap-ping for ran-som at about 6 a.m.. Po-lice said about one hour af-ter the ab-duc-tion, the vic-tim’s sis-ter re-ceived a tele-phone call from one of the vic-tim’s cel-lu-lar phones de-mand-ing mon-ey for his re-lease.. In-ves-ti-ga-tors from the An-ti-Kid-nap-ping Unit lat-er car-ried out en-quiries in La Canoa, San-ta Cruz, and dis-tricts in San Juan.. Res-i-dents were in-ter-viewed and of-fi-cers al-so searched for CCTV footage con-nect-ed to the in-ci-dent..

While search-ing the an-nex, of-fi-cers found a shirt-less man wear-ing blue jeans who had in-juries about his body.. Po-lice said the man iden-ti-fied him-self as the kid-nap-ping vic-tim..
