S27 Pro rumors feel familiar—don’t get burned

Galaxy S27 – Rumors say Samsung’s next smaller “Pro” phone could borrow much of the Galaxy S Ultra’s camera hardware. But the writer warns against getting swept up again after the Galaxy S26 Pro never arrived, pushing them toward a Pixel 10 Pro instead.

The Galaxy S27 Pro rumor hit the feed like a promise—and for the writer behind the skepticism, it landed with the weight of past disappointment.

The idea is simple: a smaller Samsung phone that could bring “many of the Ultra model’s specs” into a more pocket-friendly size. It’s the kind of pitch that sounds tailor-made for people who like Samsung’s top-end features but can’t stand the Ultra’s scale. But excitement doesn’t come easily here. The reason is personal, and it’s backed by a timeline.

Last year, similar rumors began circulating around the Galaxy S26 Pro. The dream was detailed—enough leaked specs and talk to build real anticipation. Then, despite all of it, the phone never happened. By October, the reality was already in view: the Galaxy S26 Pro wasn’t coming.

In the UK, there’s an expression—“Once bitten, twice shy”—and it fits the moment. Yes, the Galaxy S27 Pro rumors could deliver the exact phone being imagined. But until the device exists in hand—until an actual order can be placed—the writer refuses to treat the talk as anything more than talk. Samsung, they say, has disappointed them before, including with the base model Galaxy S26 that arrived instead of the Pro. It’s not described as a bad phone, just painfully far from what they wanted.

That disappointment went beyond waiting. The writer eventually stopped waiting for Samsung to build the smaller Pro they were chasing, and bought a Pixel 10 Pro instead.

So what would the Galaxy S27 Pro have to be for them to consider switching back?

They point to two priorities: cameras and size. They love the S Pen on the Ultra. but they’re realistic about why it probably wouldn’t fit inside a smaller phone. What they want is for Samsung to bring as much of the Ultra’s camera hardware into a smaller body as possible—similar to how Google has approached this with the Pixel 10 Pro. and how Apple has done it with the iPhone 17 Pro.

The writer doesn’t expect the camera hardware to be identical. The Galaxy S26 Ultra has four rear cameras, and they imagine the smaller Pro would only have room for three. They’re also willing to live with some compromise. even pointing to the S26 Ultra’s 3X telephoto sensor as “rubbish. ” suggesting losing that specific piece wouldn’t be a major problem.

What would matter is that the smaller Pro matches the Ultra’s primary and ultrawide cameras—and ideally includes the same 5X telephoto. The current leaks, they say, already suggest the telephoto camera could differ from the Ultra. As long as it isn’t that terrible 3X sensor again. they’re open to the change—because the label “pro” comes with expectations.

Hardware confidence doesn’t stop at the cameras. The writer also worries about the chipset. Exynos. they acknowledge. has improved compared with how it used to perform—but they still see it as far from competitive with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors. And for a phone aimed at being a true Pro. they believe the chipset would need to keep up with the Ultra.

Then comes the practical problem that always follows a dream: the phone still has to be small enough to make sense. The writer says the Pixel 10 Pro is the “perfect size”—large enough for strong camera hardware and a good battery. but comfortable enough for one-handed use. If Samsung makes the Galaxy S27 Pro too big—specifically. the same size as the Galaxy S26 Plus—they say it would be “too big.” The phone would need to land closer in size to the base Galaxy S26.

There’s a clear bottom line running through all of it. Until the Galaxy S27 Pro actually exists. the writer won’t put faith in the rumors—and they advise others not to. either. After the Galaxy S26 Pro proved how quickly promises can disappear. the only safe excitement is the kind you can confirm by placing an order.

  1. I swear Samsung just spams “Pro” names and then nothing drops. Meanwhile my old S20 still works fine. Pixel 10 Pro sounds like the safer bet but then again prices are always ridiculous.

  2. Wait, the S26 Pro never arrived? I thought I saw an ad somewhere that it was real lol. If they keep doing that, why would anyone trust the S27 Pro rumors? Maybe they’ll just change the name and call it Ultra Lite or something.

  3. This is why I don’t even read Samsung leaks anymore. Like, “could borrow Ultra camera hardware” means nothing if they won’t ship the dang phone. Also Galaxy S26 arriving instead of Pro is still annoying even if it’s “not bad.” I feel like companies do this to make people pre-order the wrong model and then act like it’s your fault for expecting more.
