Ryanair tells 11A passengers: “Take a nap.”

Ryanair has hit back with a humorous and “sassy” suggestion to those who fail to register the apparent “downside” to booking seat 11A on board its planes. Lots of people purposefully book a window seat when flying so they can drink in the views while soaring at 35,000 feet . For others, bagging an aisle seat is essential so they can get up and down without disturbing their fellow passengers. Most airlines display a seat map to give people a clear idea of the aircraft

layout when it comes to booking their seats . But on the majority of Ryanair Boeing 737-800 aircrafts, there are two “window” seats with a twist. The seats in question are 11A and 11F, and they’re infamous for not having a window, or offering a seriously restricted view due to the placement of the cabin air conditioning system. They’re found in the middle of the plane and are widely referred to as “windowless”, despite being in a spot where a window would typically be found.

One airline passenger was surprised and bemused after booking seat 11A and recorded a video of himself sitting in the seat, pointing to the wall of the plane to highlight the missing window. In text written over the top of the footage, which was shared to TikTok, he penned: “POV why didn’t Ryanair warn me about seat 11A”, which was also read out by a computer-generated voice. But Ryanair hit back , cutting his clip together with an edit of its own, in which the

airline displayed one of their planes with comically large cartoon eyes added to the front, giving the aircraft the appearance of a face. A voiceover on the clip simply said: “We did.” The video then flashed numerous screenshots of the information displayed when booking seat 11A, which states: “This seat has no window”. The narration then added: “Take a nap”. In the caption, the airline quipped: “entertain yourself idk [I don’t know]”. In the comments section, fellow TikTok users were keen to share their thoughts.

One person said: “One time I flew from Edinburgh to Dublin on Ryanair for $12 (£9). They could have no windows on the entire plane for that price.” Another said: “Ryanair is getting sassy. I love it.” A third agreed: “I kind of like a bit of sassiness from Ryanair.” While a fourth added: “I’d happily sit there I’m not keen on the window.” Founded in 1985 by Irish aviation executive Christopher Ryan and Irish billionaire businessman and philanthropist Tony Ryan, the company was named

after its founders. Today, it boasts a fleet of more than 600 planes. It operates 3,500 short-haul flights per day and serves around 230 airports in more than 40 countries across Europe, as well as in Türkiye, Jordan and Morocco. The low-cost Irish airline is headquartered in Swords, County Dublin, Ireland. Based on the annual number of international passengers carried, the fleet size and the number of flights, Ryanair is the largest airline in the world. It’s the second-largest airline worldwide based on market capitalisation

after Delta Air Lines. It boasts a fleet of 613 planes, including 26 leased aircraft. Approximately 95% of aircrafts used by Ryanair are single-aisle Boeing 737s. The 737-8-200 was designed by Boeing specifically for Ryanair in order to help the company carry more people at a lower cost per passenger.
