Rue’s DEA deal turned lethal in finale
Rue’s DEA – In the “Euphoria” series finale, Rue’s effort to escape her addiction and help the DEA ends with a cruel betrayal: the man she trusted, Alamo Brown, gave her Percocet laced with fentanyl. As she dies, the episode folds her plans, hallucinations, and losses int
Rue’s plan for freedom looked close enough to touch—right up until the pills hit the timeline.
In the series finale. Rue is shown still fighting opioid abuse that began in the wake of her father’s death when she was a teenager. Her arc on “Euphoria” has been defined by addiction, relapse, and repeated attempts at redemption, along with suicidal ideation. Yet there’s a particular. desperate irony in how the episode frames her last hours: she has an idea—something she believes could mean survival—while everything around her tightens.
Her final push is also tied to the DEA. Rue collaborates with the Drug Enforcement Administration to take down drug kingpin Laurie, played by Martha Kelly. She believes she has regained the trust of her new employer. Alamo Brown. portrayed by Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje. a strip-club owner and notorious crime lord.
Then Alamo learns what Rue did. He discovers she tipped off the DEA. In response, he gives Rue Percocet—intentionally laced with fentanyl—to kill her as payback.
As Rue lies dying, the episode turns inward. She hallucinates happier times with her friend Fezco, played by Angus Cloud, and with her ex-girlfriend Jules, portrayed by Hunter Schafer. She also reaches a reunion with her mom that never comes to pass.
Creator and showrunner Sam Levinson leaves the audience with the show’s harsh bottom line. “In the end, I wanted to tell an honest story about addiction,” he said. “The honest ending is people like Rue don’t make it.”

So they just killed her with fentanyl?? Like… wtf.
I didn’t even realize Rue was working with the DEA like that. The whole Alamo betrayal thing felt so random, like why would he do that over Percocet. Also the show ending is just depressing for no reason.
Wait wasn’t the DEA deal supposed to save her? I thought the point was she flips Alamo or something, not that he literally poisons her. And the Laurie part confused me, like is Laurie the kingpin or just connected? I guess it’s “honest” but it felt like they wanted shock value.
This is why I don’t trust any “help” plotlines. If she tipped off the DEA, wouldn’t they just put her in witness protection or whatever? Instead she’s getting laced pills in like 5 minutes. Also Fez hallucinations and Jules popping back in… it’s like they couldn’t decide if it was tragedy or a fantasy montage.
