Ruben Amorim named AC Milan coach after United exit

AC Milan have appointed former Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim as their new head coach. Amorim was relieved of his duties at Old Trafford in January after just 63 games. The 41-year-old replaces Massimiliano Allegri, who was sacked after failing to secure Champions League football. Sky Sports News understands Amorim’s ’emotional and inconsistent behaviour’ at Old Trafford was a key factor in the decision to sack him and a refusal to adapt and evolve his preferred 3-4-3 system led to a breakdown in confidence in
him. Transfer Centre LIVE!Got Sky? Watch now on the Sky Sports app📱Not got Sky? information about everything,” he said in an explosive finish to his final press conference at the club. “I came here to be the manager of Manchester United, not to be the coach of Manchester United. That is clear. “I know that my name is not [Thomas] Tuchel, it’s not [Antonio] Conte, it’s not [Jose] Mourinho, but I’m the manager of Manchester United and it’s going to be like this for 18 months or when the board decides to change. “That was my point. I want
to finish with that. I’m not going to quit. I will do my job until another guy is coming here to replace me.” More to follow.
Ruben Amorim, AC Milan, Manchester United, Massimiliano Allegri, head coach, Champions League, 3-4-3, Ruben Amorim sacked, Old Trafford
So Milan hired him like that didn’t happen at United… coaches bounce around now I guess.
“Emotional and inconsistent”?? Sounds like half the managers I’ve ever seen. Also the 3-4-3 thing, teams never adapt and then act shocked it doesn’t work.
Wait he got fired because he wouldn’t run the 3-4-3? That’s literally like one formation lol. I feel like the board just wanted someone else and blamed it on his attitude. Also that quote about “selective information” sounds like he was making excuses.
I read this as he got sacked for refusing to evolve his “preferred” system, but isn’t the whole point of a head coach to adjust? And then he tells press he’s a manager not a head coach… like okay semantics. Milan better not be walking into the same drama, because Allegri already got chopped for not making Champions League, so good luck with that.
