Rob Lowe has Dolly Parton to thank for his first ever Hollywood party.
The actor spoke with PauseRewind’s Kevin Zelman during an interview for his upcoming film “The Musical,” and shared his fond memories of their introduction.
“Dolly plays a part, for me, in the very first big Hollywood party,” Lowe recalled. “Very first Hollywood party I ever went to. I was so young and so impressionable that I came back from the party and wrote down all the famous people that were there. That’s how new it was for me.”
He continued, “And it was at Dolly Parton’s manager’s house. And all I remember is seeing a plexiglass case of Dolly Parton’s bedazzled high heels in the living room.”
Lowe and Parton also share a pop culture connection through a “Simpsons” episode where Homer and his friends get in trouble at the Super Bowl and are saved by Parton, who jokes she has to “go sing a medley with Rob Lowe!”
Parton passed away on August 25, 2026 at the age of 80.
A representative for the singer confirmed the news to PauseRewind, writing, that Parton “died peacefully today in Nashville, Tennessee. She was 80 years old.”
Her nephew, Bryan Seaver, also announced the news to Parton’s fans and followers in a touching video on social media.
“It is an honor, an honor that is mixed with absolute pride and great sadness. But sadness lies with us, not with Dolly. Dolly has lived in the light and is in the arms of Jesus, surely met by Carl, her parents and countless others who have watched her and longed to meet her in the heavens,” Seaver said.
Her representatives said a private service will be held for Parton and encouraged fans to donate to her Imagination Library in her honor.
