Riley Moss signals Broncos future: “rest will take care”
Riley Moss says he’s not worrying about what happens to the Broncos’ cornerback group after 2026, even as he and Ja’Quan McMillian enter the final year of their contracts. With Pat Surtain II locked in, Moss believes he’ll handle his role now and let the futur
Riley Moss doesn’t sound worried about what happens next.
With Pat Surtain II set at one cornerback spot in Denver for years to come. the only real question hanging over the rest of the group is what it looks like beyond 2026. Moss and Ja’Quan McMillian are both heading into the final year of their current contracts. a setup that could push at least one departure once the year is out. The presence of 2025 first-round pick Jahdae Barron on the depth chart makes that outcome feel more likely than not.
But Moss, asked recently about the bigger picture, kept his focus on the present. “To be honest, no. It’ll handle itself out like it always has,” Moss said. “I trust in God. and I trust in myself. and I’m just going to go out. do my thing. continue to do my thing. and the rest will take care of itself.”.
That attitude matters, because Moss has already earned the kind of trust teams can build around. A third-round pick in 2023, he’s been a starter alongside Surtain for the last two seasons. In 2025, he finished with 80 tackles, an interception, a sack, and a league-high 19 passes defensed. Those numbers didn’t come by accident. and they point to what defensive coordinators have learned about how Denver’s cornerback pairing plays on the field.
The league-high 19 passes defensed also reflect how quarterbacks have handled the matchup: they haven’t been willing to throw Moss’s way as much as they would like. largely because of the attention placed on Surtain. That reluctance is unlikely to change. which means Moss could continue to get opportunities—whether that’s with the Broncos or somewhere else if he enters free agency.
The sequence is pretty straightforward. Surtain’s stability shapes the coverage around him, Moss has produced as a starter alongside him, and now the contract timing puts pressure on the rest of the room while Moss insists he’s only thinking about his next snap.
