Rebecca Haro pleaded guilty to child abuse causing great bodily injury, involuntary manslaughter, and accessory after the fact, and was immediately sentenced to 12 years and 8 months in state prison for her role in the death of her 7-month-old son, Emmanuel. P

Rebecca Haro walked into court knowing the case would not end with testimony or delay. On Friday, she pleaded guilty and, as part of a plea agreement, was immediately sentenced to 12 years and 8 months in state prison.

Haro admitted to child abuse causing great bodily injury to a child under 5, involuntary manslaughter, and accessory after the fact, according to the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office. The sentencing came right away after her plea.

The charges stem from the death of her infant son, Emmanuel, who was 7 months old. Prosecutors said Emmanuel died after suffering repeated physical abuse inflicted by Haro’s husband, Jake Haro, who was sentenced to 32 years to life in prison back in November last year.

In Haro’s case, prosecutors alleged she became aware of signs of abuse but failed to protect the baby or obtain medical care. They also said she participated in efforts to conceal the crime.

Before investigators moved deeper into the timeline, there was a different story. TMZ previously reported Rebecca and her husband. Jake Haro. were arrested after claiming Emmanuel had been abducted in a parking lot. Investigators later determined the kidnapping never happened and alleged the story had been fabricated.

Friday’s plea unfolded against that backdrop. Rebecca appeared in court for a scheduled preliminary hearing, where prosecutors had been prepared to present evidence supporting the charges against her.

Assistant District Attorney Brandon Smith framed Haro’s decision as a fatal failure of duty. saying her “choice not to intervene was a choice to allow. if not facilitate. Emmanuel’s death. This defendant had a legal and moral responsibility as Emmanuel’s mother. She catastrophically failed in that duty.”.

Even with the conviction now in place, one question remains unanswered. Emmanuel’s remains have still never been found.

  1. Wait so they never found the baby’s remains?? That’s just horrible. How is it even possible they can still convict if there’s no body.

  2. I saw a clip about the “abducted in a parking lot” story and I feel like that part is gonna get buried. Like maybe the mom was told something and didn’t know, idk. 12 years and 8 months sounds like she got a deal or something, not fully the truth.

  3. TMZ said there was a kidnapping, right? So if it was made up, then why is everyone acting like the timeline is clear. Also the husband got 32 to life, so the wife got way less… feels backwards.
