Rat panic erupts in stands as Tigers beat Bulldogs

rat panic – A rat sprinted through the grandstand at CommBank Stadium as Wests Tigers beat the Bulldogs in Sydney, triggering a wave of panic among NRL fans during the match.

A rat was filmed running through a grandstand at CommBank Stadium on Saturday night, and for a moment the NRL game in front of it went on pause—at least for the supporters caught nearest the chaos.

Footage uploaded to TikTok shows fans quickly abandoning their spots while the creature scurried around during Wests Tigers’ victory over the Bulldogs in Sydney’s west. Several supporters can be seen leaping up and pointing at the rodent. while three stayed in the foreground—though one of them lifted his feet onto his seat.

The clip has since drawn tens of thousands of views, reaching 42,000, and the comments turned just as fast as the stampede. Some viewers joked about the rat, comparing it to Dogs half Lachlan Galvin.

That comparison carried extra sting because Galvin has been a flashpoint for Wests Tigers supporters since his decision to leave the club in May. The 20-year-old turned his back on Benji Marshall’s side in 2025 and signed with the Bulldogs. an acrimonious switch that still burns among Tigers diehards nearly a year later.

In the match, the Tigers and Bulldogs were locked in enough pressure to feel every moment. Galvin was met with constant booing from his old fans, but Bulldogs coach Cameron Ciraldo insisted the star five-eighth wasn’t bothered by it.

“I don’t know if he notices, but it’s what’s going to make him a very good player down the track is that he deals with this stuff all the time,” Ciraldo said. “He deals with people talking about him all the time, people booing him. I get it, it’s footy, but he’ll be a better player for it.”

Ciraldo added that the atmosphere around Galvin is part of the rivalry itself. “Everything’s tribal, we love our clubs, we love our teams, we love our players, and that stuff comes out – it’ll die off eventually.”

The booing was loudest at the moment the game demanded attention. A crowd of 17,505 jeered Galvin, with the biggest jeers coming as Jarome Luai sidestepped and belted him.

While Galvin carried that familiar storm, the Tigers’ night was built around a different kind of breakthrough: they snapped their losing streak and consigned the Bulldogs to another defeat.

  1. I don’t even get why people boo him that much, it’s like they’re mad at the rat too. Maybe the rat is just like… part of the rivalry? Idk.

  2. Wait so the rat ran through the stands AND everyone was still booing Galvin? Seems fake like maybe someone threw it in for views. Also the article says “Dogs half Lachlan Galvin” which makes no sense, is that even a thing?

  3. As soon as I saw the headline I was like wow Sydney can’t even have a normal match. Like why is there a rat in the stands to begin with, food spilling or what. And then they’re comparing it to Lachlan Galvin like he’s the problem… he literally just switched teams, people act so intense. Tigers finally snapped their streak but half the crowd was jumping around over a rat, so which one actually mattered?
