Britney Spears Hints at “Mean Girls” After DUI Case

In a flurry of cryptic Instagram posts, Britney Spears, 44, teased “mean girls” and reflected on “chatter” behind her back, as she continues to move past her March DUI arrest and the months of scrutiny that followed.
For Britney Spears, the message didn’t come with a name—just a mood, delivered through Instagram.
On Friday, May 29, Spears, 44, posted a caption aimed at people she didn’t identify. “If you’re one of those mean girls pointing and laughing and looking at your phone in the audience just look up today… River sends you guys a message!!!!!!!!” she wrote.
Later the same day, she posted a separate clip of herself dancing in front of a pool, with a stretch of water visible in the distance. “When I moved out of the country for a while I changed my name for some reason and the mean girls stopped laughing!!!!! Damn I miss it there,” Spears added.
The “mean girls” she’s referring to still aren’t clear. But the theme of social friction—people judging from the sidelines. chatter running behind someone’s back—surfaced again a few days earlier. in a third Instagram upload. On Tuesday, May 26, she wrote about feeling “too much chatter” that’s “going on behind your back.”.
“When you get that awkward, weird feeling you can actually start to feel perhaps too much chatter is going on behind your back… it actually effects [sic] people… I still send them love but most importantly…” Spears wrote, adding, “I hope they feel my smile.”
She also turned to the way her private life has been covered. Spears said. “the media has been a bit much in my opinion. ” and asked for respect for what she called her “unbelievable and miraculous spiritual journey.” She went on. “I’m so excited to embrace my journey and hope they stop showing embarrassing things from my past 🙄🙄🙄.” She ended that post by writing about buying “the most adorable high heeled sandals 👡 for summer. ” describing it as “the little things you know… god bless.”.
Those posts arrive months after Spears was taken into police custody on March 4, after an anonymous caller reported that she had been “traveling at high speeds and swerving.” After her arrest, Spears was taken to a local hospital to get her blood drawn, which was registered under the legal limit.
A spokesperson for Spears. speaking in March. called the incident “completely inexcusable. ” while stressing that she would follow the legal process. “Britney is embarrassed by all of the details and videos coming out from one of the most traumatic. regretful nights of her life. ” a source exclusively told Us Weekly later. describing her feelings that it’s “cruel. ” especially after she went to rehab. The spokesperson’s March statement added: “Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law. and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life. Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time.”.
In the next month, Spears was charged with driving under the influencer while in a treatment facility. She accepted a plea deal on May 4. Her sentence: 12 months of probation and one daily in jail, credited with time served. She was also ordered to complete a DUI class and pay $571 in state-mandated fees. and to see a psychologist once a week and a psychiatrist twice a month.
Taken together. the timing reads like a deliberate attempt to pivot—away from legal fallout and back toward control over her own narrative. The cryptic messages about “mean girls” and “chatter” land alongside her insistence that she’s ready to focus on her journey and ask that others stop replaying what she calls “embarrassing things from my past.”.

Mean girls? Girl just say who it is lol
She’s talking about chatter behind her back but also the media is “too much” so… which is it? Sounds like everybody’s judging her still.
I feel like River is code for the DUI cops or something. Like why else would she say “River sends you guys a message”?? Everybody keeps saying it’s unclear but I swear you can tell.
Honestly the whole Instagram cryptic stuff is exhausting. She changed her name and the mean girls stopped laughing… okay but then the DUI happened so it’s like are we supposed to just ignore that part? The media being “bit much” doesn’t erase the arrest, ya know. I still think she should just come out and say what she means instead of dancing with some random pool vibe.
