BALER, Aurora — In a remarkable discovery, researchers from the Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT) have documented a rare Rafflesia lagascae bloom in the Sierra Madre range within the Aurora Memorial National Park in Maria Aurora, Aurora.This is the second consecutive year that the species has been spotted in the area, underscoring the importance of conservation efforts in protecting the region’s unique biodiversity.The Rafflesia lagascae is a member of the Rafflesia genus, known for
producing the world’s largest flowers.. While it is among the smaller species in the genus, its presence in the Sierra Madre range highlights the ecological significance of the area and the need to protect its forest ecosystems.ASCOT President Renato Reyes emphasized the crucial role of research in strengthening environmental protection and community awareness in ecologically sensitive areas.’The collection, disturbance, or poaching of Rafflesia and other protected species is strictly prohibited,’ Reyes said, urging visitors to
