Raptors lock in Trayce Jackson-Davis and Jamal Shead

Raptors exercise – Toronto exercised a $2.4 million team option on center Trayce Jackson-Davis and a $2.3 million option on point guard Jamal Shead for the 2026-27 season, keeping both around as depth pieces while planning for what comes next behind Immanuel Quickley.

The Raptors didn’t just make a routine move on Monday—they set the tone for how their roster will look in 2026-27. Toronto exercised its team options on two players for next season: a $2.4 million option on center Trayce Jackson-Davis and a $2.3 million option on point guard Jamal Shead.

Jackson-Davis arrived in Toronto on a February deadline deal from the Golden State Warriors. The trade sent a second-round pick to Golden State. For the Raptors, the 26-year-old’s time was brief. He played 17 regular-season games, averaging 1.7 points and 1.9 rebounds while logging five minutes per game. He also appeared in three post-season games during Toronto’s first-round series against the Cleveland Cavaliers. His only production there came in Game 1, a 126-113 loss, when he recorded two points.

Before the Warriors, Jackson-Davis had been on a different path entirely. Drafted 57th overall by the Wizards in 2023 and traded to Golden State on draft night, the former Indiana product has averaged 6.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists over his three-year career.

Shead, 23, is staying put as well, and his situation looks steadier. Toronto is exercising a $2.3 million option for the 2026-27 season after he finished a sophomore campaign as the Raptors’ backup point guard. He averaged 6.6 points, 5.4 assists and 1.7 rebounds per game. He also played all 82 games last season.

The Raptors plan seems clear: Shead is likely to reprise his role behind Immanuel Quickley next season. Even so, the path won’t be automatic. Toronto also has another point guard in the mix in Jaden Bradley, a second-round pick out of Arizona, adding competition for minutes.

With the options now locked in, Toronto is preserving its depth while giving itself space to see how the roster battle plays out—particularly at point guard—after a full season of Shead handling the backup load.
