Queen in Black finale arrives September as Venomworld emerges

VENOMWORLD emerges – Marvel has unveiled the final covers and details for Queen in Black, arriving this September, as Hela takes Knull’s throne, Knull seizes the Lightforce Dimension, and VENOMWORLD steps into the spotlight in Queen in Black #4-5—pushing Mary Jane Watson and Eddie
On a galaxy-wide battlefield where gods and symbiotes have already stopped pretending they can share space. the next move is personal. Queen in Black—the crossover event spinning out of Al Ewing and Carlos Gómez’s run of Venom—begins on July 22. and now Marvel is preparing fans for the closing chapters that arrive this September.
The conflict at the center of the series doesn’t just threaten Earth. It threatens what Earth *is* inside the Marvel Universe’s mythology of power. The saga. a five-issue run written by Al Ewing with art by Iban Coello. follows Marvel’s heroes as they try to safeguard Earth from an epic cosmic collision between Knull and Hela. In the event’s latest revealed situation. Hela has seized Knull’s throne and commands a legion of deadly symbiotes as the Queen in Black. Knull. for his part. has conquered the Lightforce Dimension—claiming terrifying new power for himself as the “God of Light.” Two of the most powerful evils in the galaxy are at war. and Earth is framed as the final prize.
The final run is built around that imbalance. With the event’s concluding issues set for September. Marvel has spotlighted what’s been teased since the early days of Ewing’s run: VENOMWORLD. Its long-awaited emergence is set for Queen in Black #4-5, where Earth is consumed by symbiotes. In those issues. Mary Jane Watson—carrying the current Venom host role—faces a desperate choice that will shape both the fate of the Marvel Universe and her future as a symbiote hero in Venom #262.
Mary Jane isn’t the only one cornered by consequence. Eddie Brock is also on the hook for a decision that redefines his role as a symbiote host in Queen in Black: Venom Unchained #3.
Hela’s reign and Knull’s expansion aren’t treated as abstract menace either. In the final issue run, the series pulls supporting characters and major teams into the same pressure chamber. Two newly spotlighted Defenders squads are brought together for the climactic finale in Queen in Black: Defenders of Light and Dark #4. The setup is blunt: the Defenders have taken a beating on two fronts. emboldening Knull and Hela to personally finish off both strike teams once and for all. A “Plan B” is set in motion. and the issue frames the endgame as a collision—and possible unity—between Light and Dark forces. as they try to stop the dual horrors of the Queen in Black and the God of Light from turning Planet Earth into yet another battlefield in their cosmic conflict.
Between those larger moves. Marvel is also filling out the event with tie-in specials and limited issues that reframe the war from different angles. In an interview with Marvel.com. Al Ewing explained the scope of the tie-ins with a trio of stories: Queen in Black: Hela. Karnilla of the Norns tells the tale of how Hela started all this. and which forgotten Thor tried to prevent it; Queen in Black: Thor follows Beta Ray Bill and the Mortal Thor. Sigurd Jarlson—how they react to Hela. and how Hela reacts to them; and in Venom. the war against Hela is told from the point of view of the characters in that book—Dylan. Mary Jane. and the Venom symbiote himself. Ewing called it “a fun time!”.
The final covers and details reveal how the climax is staged. Queen in Black #4 (of 5). written by Al Ewing with art by Iban Coello. is billed as “VENOM ASCENDING!” and leans into escalation. It has Tyr unleashing his final weapon on the beleaguered Avengers. while Reed Richards investigates Codex’s half-symbiote power from the Baxter Building—with “cataclysmic consequences.” The pitch ends on a doomsday question: will the end of Venom’s golden era coincide with the end of Planet Earth?.
Queen in Black #5 (of 5). also written by Al Ewing and drawn by Iban Coello. is framed around a competition for the top of the cosmic hierarchy. In the war between Light and Dark. the winner’s taken their prize—but the book asks whether it’s Hela or Knull who’s ascended to the Throne of All. The only thing standing between them and all life on Earth is the VENOMWORLD. presented as the ultimate symbiote battle and “the last stand” for Mary Jane Watson.
That “last stand” lands alongside other final-chapter pressure points. Black Cat #14, written by G. Willow Wilson with art by Gleb Melnkov. is marketed as “COSMIC THEFT?” with the premise that the only hope to stop the Knull and the Queen in Black’s war is Black Cat—if she’s gotta steal something. The issue’s copy jokes about stakes being high for Felicia and adds. “Hopefully. she knows how to fly a spaceship!”.
Meanwhile. Queen in Black: Venom Unchained #3 (of 3). written by Charles Soule with art by Juanan Ramírez. deals with the fallout of Eddie Brock’s earlier status. Eddie Brock was the King in Black—right up until he wasn’t. The narrative ties his vacating of the throne to the return of Knull and Hela’s rise as the Queen in Black. The book asks the uncomfortable question at the heart of its pitch: can he make up for his mistake. and could he take back the crown as god of symbiotes?.
And as the event closes, the tie-in into Venom itself moves toward a surreal final image: VENOMWORLD. Venom #262. written by Al Ewing with art by Carlos Gómez. introduces “WHO IS THE NEW ALL-VENOM?” with Mary Jane Watson is Venom. and so is everybody else—“VENOMWORLD LIVES!” The war between Knull and Hela just ended. but the copy insists that even Eight Billion Venoms might not be enough to beat the winner. It’s billed as “the strangest adventure yet” for the World’s Strangest Roommates. while still asking whether “the lease” on that world is finally up.
Even before the first page of the finale hits shelves. the timeline of the crossover has already set a rhythm: Queen in Black begins on July 22 with the broader event. and now the final covers and information for the event’s final chapters arrive this September. Fans can pick up Queen in Black #1 at their local comic shop on July 22. then watch as the last five-issue arc and its tie-ins turn a cosmic conflict into a set of deeply specific. character-driven choices—choices that make Earth feel less like a backdrop. and more like the price everyone is fighting to avoid paying.
Queen in Black Venom Venomworld Hela Knull Al Ewing Carlos Gómez Iban Coello Mary Jane Watson Eddie Brock Black Cat Defenders of Light and Dark tie-in specials comic crossover
So it’s Venomworld but also Queen in Black? Sounds like they just changed the title halfway.
Wait Hela taking Knull’s throne?? I thought Knull was like the main big bad already. This feels like they’re mixing storylines from like 3 different comics.
Mary Jane and Eddie on a “galaxy-wide battlefield” sounds cool but also… isn’t Eddie Venom not supposed to be doing all that god stuff? I’m confused. Like does this mean Venomworld is the finale or just a side thing that leads into September?
I swear Marvel keeps doing these crossover “big cosmic collision” things every year and then half the characters act like they’re suddenly friends. If Knull grabs the Lightforce Dimension then why does Earth even matter lol. Also July 22 start and September finale, so is that… 2 months of reading commercials or what?
