Prince William marks Father’s Day and 44th birthday

Prince William celebrated Father’s Day on June 21 and his 44th birthday with a new Instagram photo of him posing with Princess Charlotte, part of a broader Royal Family set of Father’s Day posts.

Prince William stepped into the familiar role of “Papa” on Father’s Day—on the same day he turned 44.

On June 21. the official Prince and Princess of Wales Instagram account shared a new photo of William posing with his daughter. Princess Charlotte. In the picture, William was in uniform, while Charlotte wore a white dress. The post’s caption read: “Happy birthday and Father’s Day to the best Papa in the World!. We love you very much,” signed, “C, G, C & L,” for Princess Kate, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

The timing was tightly woven into the family’s calendar. The photo appears to have been taken on the same day as Trooping the Colour. King Charles III’s official birthday. which took place on June 13. William, Princess Kate, and their children—Prince George, 12; Princess Charlotte, 11; and Prince Louis, 8—were all in attendance.

Father’s Day posts elsewhere in the family carried their own kind of weight. The official Royal Family Instagram account marked the occasion by sharing an older photo of Charles standing alongside his father. Prince Philip. who died in 2021. The caption read: “Celebrating all Fathers, and thinking of those who wish they could be with their Dads, today.”.

In an Instagram story, the family also shared a more recent picture of William with Charles and wished William a happy birthday.

The day also followed a pattern of intimate family snapshots. In 2025. William’s family posted adorable before-and-after photos: one showed the four standing together. and the second had them lying on the ground. laughing. In 2024. they marked Father’s Day with a photo of William posing with the kids on the beach. dressed casually in a hoodie. shorts and a ball cap; that image was taken by Kate herself. That year’s message was simple and direct: “We love you, Papa.”.

The sequence this week makes the celebration unmistakable: Father’s Day wasn’t treated as a single moment, but as something the family returns to—through uniforms, beaches, and birthdays—built around the same people.

  1. So he posted a pic with Charlotte and it’s Father’s Day AND his birthday? That feels kinda… forced? Like they planned it for the likes.

  2. The article says Charlotte wore a white dress but also says it’s uniform day? I don’t get royal outfits half the time. Also Trooping the Colour was June 21? Thought that was earlier.

  3. I mean good for them, but I swear these royal posts always line up with events like it’s a calendar ad. Charles thinking of dads who aren’t here… ok but why does it have to be Instagram every year. Anyway happy birthday to him I guess.
