Prince William admits he wears a ‘disguise’ to ride motorbikes

Prince William has admitted he rides motorcycles “quietly” and “in disguise.” His confession came while he visited Norfolk Blood Bikes, and it follows earlier remarks from Kate Middleton about her fear for their son as well as claims that William also uses dis

Prince William didn’t just step into the world of Norfolk Blood Bikes—he gave volunteers a small peek into how he keeps his own freedom running on two wheels.

During a visit with volunteers from the Norfolk Blood Bikes charity. the Prince of Wales described his motorcycle habit in a way that sounded both casual and carefully controlled. As Sandy Gourlay. the organization’s chairman. showed him the bikes. William told volunteers. “I love bikes.” He added. “I do still ride now and again. quietly. ” before clarifying. “In disguise.”.

The confession lands with extra weight because William’s enthusiasm for motorcycles isn’t shared at home. In 2015, while in Scotland, Princess of Wales Kate Middleton told the press, “He’s still riding it. It always fills me with horror when he goes out on it.” She said, “I’m terrified. Hopefully, I’m going to keep [Prince] George off of it,” speaking about their 12-year-old son.

William has also acknowledged stepping back, at least publicly. In 2018. he said he had given up riding because of his role as a father to George. Princess Charlotte. and Prince Louis. “I’m a dad of three. I have to tone it down,” the 43-year-old said during an appearance in the Isle of Man about motorcycles. “I miss the big trips. For me, biking was always about being with everybody else,” William added.

And motorcycles aren’t the only time the “disguise” idea appears. The same theme—staying unseen—has been reported in connection with William’s social life too. A source told Daily Mail. “He dons an occasional disguise.” The insider described him as “a 40-something bloke. well off. with a happy family. ” but added that his days of normal freedom are shadowed by “a metaphorical straitjacket and a very heavy crown.” The source also said. “The lads are particular fans of barbecues. beer and a lot of wine.”.

For now, William’s window for escape looks narrow, even as he continues to let off steam where he can. The future king is preparing to take over for King Charles III one day. and biographer Andrew Lownie has described the monarchy as being in a “transitional phase” toward the moment His Majesty’s eldest son “taking over.” Lownie told i Paper. “Charles is sentimental. he’s very compassionate. he’s a bit of a ditherer. ” and said. “William can’t speak out because he’s No. 2 and he won’t cross his father, but he’ll have had a big influence.”.

Through it all, the details stay consistent: whether it’s a motorcycle ride or a night out, William’s instinct is the same—find the moment, keep it quiet, and stay just out of view.
